Team USA has won nine of the 10 opening-day matches in the past two Presidents Cups, and having five matches means the Internationals' lack of depth will be on full display with 10 of their 12 players hitting Medinah on Thursday.
Of the nine lowest-ranked players in true strokes gained tee-to-green in this event, eight will wear International colors, and I give the Americans a 65% probability of leading after Day 1.

I'm sorry, but you have to go with the chalk. Team USA is just much deeper and brings talent that can't be matched. The Americans are 13-1-1 in the event; it'll be 14 soon enough.

I'm seeing some value with Si Woo Kim. He's absolutely the best international player and was first on the PGA Tour in strokes gained around the green this year.
He's had a pretty strong season overall, too. Although he didn't win a tournament, he logged three second-place finishes, six Top 5s, and 11 Top 10s. Give me Kim, who brings the competitiveness to every match-play event he's in. He genuinely wants to beat the Americans, which is a good place to start.
