The 2025 major championship season wraps up this week at Royal Portrush for the 153rd edition of The Open Championship.

While the favorite in the British Open odds is World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, I’m looking further down the board to a trio of sleepers and longshot golf picks to round out my betting card for this week’s action in Northern Ireland.

2025 British Open sleeper picks

  • Koepka to win outright (+7500)
  • Henley to win outright (+7500)
  • Burmester to win outright (+17500)

Picks made on 7-15 at 10:00 a.m. ET.

British Open sleeper predictions

Sleeper pick to win: Brooks Koepka to win outright
+7500 at bet365

This is an incredibly long number for a five-time major champion who just finished T12 in the U.S. Open and finished T4 in The Open the last time it was played at Royal Portrush. Sure, it would be nice to see Brooks Koepka in better overall current form, but he’s consistently proved capable of flipping the switch on the brightest stages, including his 2023 run of T2-Win-T17 in the Masters, PGA Championship, and U.S. Open.

Plus, he’s won on the DP World Tour and has three more Top 10s in The Open alongside his tidy 2019 showing.

Sleeper pick to win: Russell Henley to win outright
+7500 at bet365

Russell Henley enters the week with three consecutive Top 10 finishes while gaining true strokes across the board. He already took down a big-time event with a win in the Arnold Palmer Invitational at the demanding Bay Hill, and the five-time PGA Tour winner is becoming a more consistent player in majors, including his solo fifth at last year’s Open Championship, where he gained true strokes in all five key metrics.

Sleeper pick to win: Dean Burmester to win outright
+17500 at bet365

Dean Burmester might not be heading to Royal Portrush in peak form, but that’s more than reflected in the long odds. The 36-year-old bomber has added finesse to his power to be a more well-rounded player, and a hot putter could be all it takes to make a run at hoisting the Claret Jug. He’s posted back-to-back Top 20 finishes in The Open following a respectable T40 debut in 2021 and owns a solid resume of worldwide wins.
