You posted your opinions...which is fine by me but not very helpful in analyzing and evaluating personnel, match-ups, and X's and 0's......the fact is you didn't explain how the the Cover 2 system the Colts defense employ will protect the middle of the field (neither did blueglass)...or if you feel they will allow the speed demons on NO offense to simply run past them all...football is a game of match-ups and mismatches..not a game based on opinions, speculation and guesswork...personally, I value thoughtful analysis based on actual facts...

I don't mind being challenged or fact checked...in fact, I rather enjoy it...but had you done your homework you would have known the Saints went 4-2 against playoff teams last year (including the playoffs)...

New Orleans may get run off the field...but the type of team they have is one that could conceivably give Indy fits...and I will take as many points as I can get and hold my breath for sixty minutes because I certainly realize the Colts could win big...I would never make a statement that a team will not make the playoffs in September because I have actual NFL experience and there are no guarantees... and last year simply does not count...

How many AFC teams did they beat?  Cleveland in week 1 19-14 quite impressive.  The closest they came after that was a 7 point loss to the Steelers who are nowhere as good as this current Colts team.   Which by the way the cover 2 will bend and not break.  I'll trade TDs for FGs all day.  Then the Colts secondary will cause a turnover.  How did that Bears cover 2 do against the Saints last year?  I would say it dominated.  While it may be true that the Colts are not as good as last year, I hear it is quite hard to repeat as Super Bowl Champion.  New Orleans will not make it past week 1 in the playoffs unless they get a bye.  The Colts will make it to the AFC championship game.  Also the last time I checked the AFC was far superior to the NFC.

Once again, you are talking about last year...once again, you are giving me a plethora of opinions...you are comparing last year's Bears defense to this year's Indy defense  (which makes no sense)....when I asked about the X's and O's breakdowns and personnel match-ups, I receive comments like "the Colts secondary will cause a turnover" (which is not particularly insightful)...comments like "Cover 2 will bend not break" is indicative of someone who has never broke down game film or paid very close attention...Cover 2 defenses break all the time...I have coached Cover 2 before and it is a scheme highly vulnerable to deep speed...and since you are in love with last year, check your facts...the Colts lost three of their last five to Tennessee, Jax and Houston (not exactly play-off caliber teams like New Orleans) so clearly their Cover 2 defense will breakdown (particularly in the run game - and I don't think Bill Polian will be suiting up for Booger McFarland)...do what you want...but my guess is you have never coached, scouted or worked in the front office...your posts indicate this..and I have done all three...
 
I am done responding to you...you make very little sense to me...nothing personal...good luck with this game and with the rest of your plays...but you only further invalidate yourself to me with your suspect postings...

Seriously, don't let me talk any of you into the Saints...I am wrong on games all the time and there is something to be said about taking the field as the World Champs with the one of the finest QB's in the history of the game...I have consistently bet on Indy at home and it's paid handsomely for the most part...but I smell an upset here...I just think the various match-ups over four long quarters favors the visitors...but penalties, turnovers, missed assignments or poor execution can ruin any bet...and we all take a chance with that when we lay our money down...

Whoa ScorpioTD!  Your comments are almost better than the game itself. I do think that New Orleans is a power play though. One thing I like about your postings is that you force others to expand upon their decisions. I seem to do it more in basketball for example how long teams have been on the road, teams that are good but are down by more than 15 at the half (MY FAVORITE WAY TO MAKE MONEY) at home, etc. My only power play for the pro game this weekend is Jacksonville, which I will expand upon on that games forum. In college, i am rocking with the following: Kentucky -13 (buyin down to -10.5), Mississippi State -6 (bought down to -3.5), Penn State -17 (I am buying it down to -14.5), South Carolina +4.5 (I am buying up to +7)), the Point Shavers oops I mean Toledo +3 (buoght up to +5.5), and Virginia Tech +12.5 (bought up to +15), and last but not least for late night desert Florida International +24 (bought up to 26.5) all straight bets, no parlays. I didn't expand too much on these picks, but believe me I crunched the numbers down, and one in particular, Virginia Tech I did absolutely no research at all. i mean if you're gonna give me a team like Virginia Tech with two touchdowns... The last three times that they have been an underdog of a spread over 8 they have covered, going back to 2001! Come on!
 
Anyway it's only one game. Hell even i sucked in pre-season football, this year. Don't be so hard on those who don't have the same level of knowledge about the game as you do. Fuck em'! Just keep on making your cash, baby! Cuz when they're broke that's enough to make them shut up.
 
By the way nice usage of the word plethora! Pimp on, ScorpioTD. Let the others give their word by the gram. You're on roller skates. Why should you care?

I would never try and take you down, Scorpio, I have much respect.  I'm not trying to change your mind, or prove you wrong (and I know you know this).  It all comes down to the coaches and players, and maybe a little from the fans, lol.  Hey by the way, how many freakin scorpion avatars do u have?? lol  I hope I am seriously wrong and that this will be an amazing game, but I believe that the Saints have gotten too much hype.  They seem to be a mirror image of the Colts two seasons ago.  Anyways looking forward to kickoff, cheers.

Cocknocker..thanks so much for the college picks...I have not done my research and homework on colleges and will trail you...please post your write-ups in this forum as the "General Discussions" forum has WAY TOO many new threads every day for an old man to keep up with...I really prefer the "Official Games" threads in college and pro ball...and thank you for such nice comments!
 
Thanks blueglass ...nice thoughts.. I understand why you like the Colts and know I will be in for a big slice of Humble Pie if the Colts beat them 42-17! Still looking at Houston but I think that they could have a nice year with the new QB and Kubiak in his 2nd year...still worried about the O-Line...WR Johnson is a stud and Ahman Green should give them a better run game (if he can stay healthy)...their Defense also worries me....

Relax gentlemen the NFL season has yet to start and there is already some friction in here.

3rd and Long & Male Escort Good points I follow those stats and the percentage is high that the defending Super Bowl champs tend to not cover more than cover ats on its opening game of the season.

revin welcome to the thread  and you need to relax a bit man. there is no need for name calling in here. Lets just all get along in here and everything will be alright.

The Colts lost some key players on defense due to free agency and injuries during the off season. I was actually looking to play the over in this game due to those losses. I tend to look towards the over in Dome games especially with the amount of talent both offenses contain in this match up the over looks like a solid play.

Still thinking........

Good to see some familiar faces in here - welcome back DrJ.
 
I'm gonna roll with the Colts in this one at -6. (I know, everyone is shocked) They are the most dominant home team in the NFL over the last several years, NO not as good on the road or against the AFC. I think they both get it done on offense and will most likely be on the over (even at 52.5) but I am already locked in on the Colts -6. I may hedge off some if the number climbs over 7.
 
The Colts have a huge mismatch in the passing game against this NO secondary, I really like the balance with Addai in the backfield, the loss of Glenn is big, but Manning was still basically untouched when he was in in the preseason - he gets rid of the ball so damn fast. And fewer false starts. Colts have also started very fast the last several seasons.  NO will get theirs, but I expect a huge lift from this home crowd to welcome the Super Bowl champs.
 
Last thought - I honestly don't see NO winning this game, so I need to lay the points. This spread is reminiscent of the SB.

Bought myself a 46" lcd tv with some Manning money, the games are awesome in high def.

dr j there is no " wrongside " until the game is over pardon the pun. Its the first game of the season not much to go on so just going on gut in this one.
