Great info Scorp, thank you and to the others for all the great info!
 
When I look at the line my first / easy call is Indy and the over.  But upon further review i am going to play N.O. and the under AND I am going to parlay it.
 
Only 1 game so the total is always a bit high since the public loves overs - even the folks on this site seem to love the over.  This may be one of those games where both teams try to show they can run the ball and sustain drives.  No turnovers so it stays under. (or it is a classic shootout and we have 70 points!)
 
I am betting on lower scoring SO I will take the 6 points.  I am going to wait until game time because I think i will get 6.5 or maybe 7. 
 
Watch for a couple of suspect holding calls to stop drives and cause punts.  Even i won money the first weekend of college football so my guess is Vegas is hurting a bit.

should move to INDY -6.5 or -7...not down to -5.5 or -5...fishy...

i'll take SAINTS plus the points...ML ...and iffy on o/u but leaning towards UNDER since all the 'experts' are predicting a shootout...wouldnt be surprised to see 0-0 at the end of the 1st quarter....

Got the line on this game for the O/U today at 53. Seems inflated but who knows its the first regular NFL game of the season anything can happen.

Contrarian play here calls for undy at Indy. . . Saints D 2nd in NFL in 06 with 232 ypg; and Peyton's Posse needs practice with 5 new starters. . . . . Colts 23, Saints 21. . . .

Definitely taking the Saints and the points.  The Colts are arguably the lamest Super Bowl team in the last 10-15 years.  The game was a mess, if not for the interception they probably lose the game.  I believe the Colt defense we saw in the playoffs was a mirage.  The real Colts are the D we saw get shredded on the ground all year, which Bush will do tonight.  Siants explosive enough to score with Indy.  Indy home field advnatage os not much of one at all - Pittsburgh or Green bay it isn't for sure, the fans arent exactly rabid and it's a f'ing dome.  So....take the points as NO may even win this one straight up.  Good luck guys.

And the colts will miss Rhodes and others they lost in the off-season, very different team as paper thin as they already were....

Colts dominate with their pass D, will come out strong, at home, and show what a Superbowl team can do.  I'd almost stick with the under here??

This was the very first posting.  The main reason why Colts had a dominating pass D was because every team ran on their marshmellow run D, hence skewing the stats to give the illusion of a good pass D.
 
Best to stay away from this game.  I am personally not comfortable betting against an Indy team that has simply dominated at home.

My long winded post from the main forum for my friends here.

 

Welcome back everybody. For those of you that don't know me from last year I'll give my annual disclaimer that I am a Colts fan and I will back my team quite often. I finished last season with a 9-1 side run in the playoffs and also cashed a 7-1 future bet on Indy. All the plays were posted, unfortunately when Covers revamped the site all my old posts as 3rd&Long were deleted.

No agenda for me, just a fellow degenerate with 20 years of experience betting football. Hope to help the cause again and provide some winners. Feel free to disagree, but I will not get sucked into a pissing contest with anyone here, it serves no purpose.

Thoughts -

Every one is in love with the talent and what the Saints accomplished last season, including me to some extent. Brees, Bush, Colston, that's a whole lot to like. This game is going to come down to a few things.

1- Saints Defense - the strength is the D-line, but I don't see them having a big impact in this one. Manning is the least sacked QB in this league, and this Saints team will not be able to blitz because the offensive balance of the Colts and the weak secondary of the Saints. Big advantage Colts. Gonzalez is going to be big this year in the Colts offense, like Stokley without the never ending injuries. Colts will stay on schedule all night.

2- Home field advantage - I've seen a few comments about how it isn't tough to play in the Dome, but this Colts team has lost twice there in three seasons. Big advantage Colts.

3- Colts Defense - it all works with Bob Sanders in the game. This defense struggled last year at times, and that was due mostly to the injury of sanders. Guys were playing out of position and could do nothing to stop the run. Take notice of Marlin Jackson in this one, this guy will be a pro bowl caliper player this year.

I see the Saints doing nothing on defense to slow down the Colts, this one is going to be a shootout and the Saints will not be able to keep up with Manning & company.

Score Colts 38 Saints 24.

Great info everyone, it looks like the majority of this board and the public is on the over it looks like its going to hit 54 soon. The way I see it the Saints are going to try and play ball control and run the ball down Indys throat and slow the game down and I don't see Indy's defense having much success stopping Deuce and Bush. There are many trends with high powered offenses like this and higher listed totals that the games usually go under. I'm not confident enough on the side or total so I' going to play it safe and wait to hopefully tease it.

i'ma saints fan.. so my opinion is gonna be biased.. i think indy's d was a mirage in the playoffs last season, they'll have to keep it up most of the season for them to make me believe.. its hard to stop that NO offense.. mcallister and bush are the best 1-2 punch in the league, and adding mechem in the draft adds a wr that is a deep threat.. colston is more of a possession guy.. imagine when they line up bush in the slot, colston on the other far side and mechem next to bush and mcallister in the backfield.. talk about defensive mismatches and confusion.. on the other side.. i hate, hate betting against peyton manning b/c he is that damn good.. he can win games with little help from the d.. i think the NO d-line and blitz scheme will keep pressure on manning all game, making him uncomfortable..

i'll take the points.. NO -6.5

lots of good reading in this topic... i got the saints in my 6pt 2 team teaser, other team is steelers... i wont be touching the o/u it looks too scary for me as you would assume both are high powered offenses but anything can happen... some crazy line mvmt also, i guess the books want more action on the colts moving it down to 5.5, dont matter to me i already got my teaser locked... GL all!

Hahahahahah, I am at you.  I hope you don't bet money.  You'll be when you're broke.  Did you miss the season last year?  Was your mullet boy band on tour??   Ok look on this forum around 3rd quarter for my "rub it in your face"  dance.  Hmmm maybe even before the second half, lol

I rarely play 4 gamers but I'm carrying over from basketball so, it's a wild bet that keeps me off of other games until i lose it of course

P.S.  Led Zeppelin was pretty good, but KISS is better

good pts on KC HUNTED, they will be one of the worst this year, I'll take WHOEVER is playing them, minus ANY pts.

Also WRECKEDEM, I would stay away from the panthers, they are a hot/cold team, and the Rams are gonna stomp them.  If anything just stay away from Car.

I am on the Saints +6, and actually think all of your picks have a chance... just not together at once.

Indy all the way.... Fluke last year for the FEEL GOOD SAINTS.. Payton hates to lose EVEN to his own brother. So wat makes you think a fluke feel good team can win against Manning who has been Raised to live football?
