This guy is a bigger moron than I ever thought he could be.
i'm not convinced this is true. i've mentioned this before and find it kind of fascinating (as pathetic as this situation is) to try and understand what's really going on with trump. i think there are three likely possibilities.
1. Giving him no credit- he's a complete moron as ramanujan says. certainly possible. likely even.
2. Giving him a lot of credit- he knows exactly what he's doing. he's a con man and good at it. he knows that all of his policies completely f*ck over the overwhelming majority of his supporters (all but the ulotra rich) and the only way he can keep the focus off of his grifting and his sh*tting on his supporters at every opportunity is to feed them the racism, bigotry, misogyny, willful ignorance and overall chaos that they crave. this also serves to preoccupy the media so they don't actually report on how trump is f*cking over trump supporters. this makes the most sense and seems to be the only way all but the dumbest trump supporters (although we're just talking slight gradations here) can continue to support him. but, it works. we can see examples here.

I do think he is a good example of a middle urban American male in some ways - loud proud bullish xenophobic and believes he loves his country

I know it doesn't seem possible, dirt, but it's actually all three. And I voted for him, so i'm not not a bitter loser.
1. He's not an intelligent man. Definitely not as intelligent as people think. Just look at his tweets. Not just the content but the structure and grammar. Everybody equates success in business with intelligence which is asinine. He inherited a business snd his success is that he hasn't ran it completely into the ground. He's left a trail of failures in his wake though.
2. All of his machinations....from the wall, which I support, and all of the race stuff, serves to occupy our attention while he carries out agendas that will completely f*ck over anyone but the super rich. And somehoe he's done this while at the same time convincing the middle and lower classes of this great country that he has our best interest at heart. That he's fighting for us. A developer who buys his steel from china while American steel mills close down, who manufactures products in China, who repeatedly hires foreign workers for construction projects and in the service industry, this man is fighting for American workers? Ok. He fights to helo the super rich.
3. He is familiar with politicians and how f*cked up government is. They're all shady and f*cking us over. For all I just said about Trump, clearly it wasn't enough to make me vote for Hillary. Scary.

this is what i was referring to in 33. maybe it's never been this bad but when you look at the morons we routinely elect to congress, it's possible he's dealt with these people and had bad experiences with them and decided, any idiot can do this job and when i do it, i'm going to show everyone what a clownshow our government can be. that's pure speculation but i just don't think there are many other viable explanations for this guy.

1. i agree he is dumb. or at least i think he is. but his rhetoric and his tweets are so dumb, i have to wonder if it isn't a show. this is the leader of the country. how can he be this friggin proudly and publicly stupid. if it was a movie, no one would watch it because it's too ridiculous. and yes, being born rich and leaning on all of the assistance and advantages that entails is what incurious and inexperienced people think success looks like.
2. that does take some talent. it's somewhat like the guy who abuses the garbage out of his wife or girlfriend and she continues to stay with him. only in that situation, which happens all of the time, it's often financial or because of the kids, or she doesn't work and he does, etc. with trump the abused are free to tell him to f*ck off and vote for someone else but they lvoe him. i get that people love to have those "other people" to blame their failures on and when you've made nothing of your life, there's a strong feeling of comfort to be able to say, well, i'm better than those people at least, and trump gives them that outlet, but at the end of the day, that doesn't pay the bills or help your kid make a better life or get you in with a doctor when there's a medical problem. trump is good at this. maybe his one true talent. that's why i think this explains trump's america the best.

Ugh, I hate to disagree but the number of Americans who harbor racist beliefs is certainly more than we want to admit. Groups like BLM have themselves divided the public and likely created some awareness as well as anger.
Its doesn't mean that these Americans support Nazis or the group but rather are going to be receptive to Trump's comments about blame on all sides.

yeah, that's a good one.

I read a lot how america is the laughing stock but rarely see a list of the countries doing the laughing. If anyone would like to compile a list of countries laughing at america id like to see it. Don't bother including britain, france, germany, russia, mexico, iran, iraq, syria, pakistan, yemen, japan, n korea, and all the usual suspects. Be an interesting read.
Britain has a myriad of problems brexit on their hands.

Well, it's hard to quantify something like that and let's say even if it's 20 or 30 percent of America, that's not enough to actually support white nationalists into office. I don't believe it's half of Americans, even though people may generalize and there are shades of racism, it's a lot different than automatically hating everyone else who doesn't look exactly like you and believing they aren't equal human beings. I don't watch Jim Jefferies' show pretty much ever, but my friend put it on last night for the opening segment and I think it's the closest description I've heard that nailed what happened.

One of those groups idolize a race that killed 11 million people. Another of those groups idolize a group that would randomly lynch black children to create terror.
Another of those groups is simply someone with whom you disagree with ideologically.

but i also like post 244 where the guy refers to the people who oppose nazis and white supremacists as super predators.
trump sure does bring these folks out into the light. have to give him some credit for that, i guess.
