It's a place where opinions are unfettered and honesty abounds, however crude. I've never called for anyone to be banned on this site. I only post to rebuke any racist sentiments in threads. 

You are a mod, and apparently, you find this 'cyberworld' important enough to enforce rules (rules that serve the dominant white male interest on this site as it has pretty much been admitted there isn't a single black male working for covers).

Also the rules you enforced were in an ex post facto manner (which is banned by the federal government in article 1 Section 9 of the Constitution) and although you are a privately run website, many here have correctly pointed out that I was boxed for racism in a thread about sexism, with your excuse being that I have made anti-white (not racist, let's be clear, this is about offending the white male) threads in the past.

Bottom line: If you care enough to enforce the rules of the site, you should then care enough to answer to how they were enforced when called out on their enforcement by the members of the site as MANY have done in this thread. 

Take a few extra painkillers tomorrow and maybe the neurons will start firing correctly up in that demented noggin of yours.

first, beets, i was never requesting an "answer".  i answer to no one on this site, just as you do not.  however, as a mod, you do have a position where your decisions can directly effect the users of covers.  I say this with no negative intent, but i have a really well rounded life.  i would guess many posters on covers are emotionally invested.  this does, in fact, give you a direct tap line into their "real" life.  in accordance, i think it's only fair that objective consistency overrules subjective emotionality.

however, much more importantly, hope you are doing well and enjoy that cloud you'll be sleeping on...

Let's just get an answer to the question instead of the alleged collective groaning you claim is occurring. 

Is there a black male working in a position of even minor authority at covers? (because if it were so, that individual might have something to say as to why I am here, and so would a woman working here since thread I was boxed for was about sexism)

How could you possibly deny there isn't a dominant white male interest within this sites borders? It's run by WHITE MIDDLE-CLASS MALES and it's membership is 98/99% the same! I am boxed because it caters to that interest, plain and simple...

the owners may be white middle class males.....  what does this matter?  many companies are.  i say this with absolutely no racist intent, but the white population in america vastly outnumbers the black population, one would expect many businesses to be white owned.  Does this make them intrinsically racist?  Does this mean that, because i have a stake in a business, and we have no black partners (out of 3), that we are racist?  absurd.

you did not get boxed because of your stance scal. you may feel that way, but you didn't.  you got boxed because of your almost laser like insistence on pressing your stance, over and over.  and it would be one thing if you ever committed to an actual, reasonable debate.  but anyone who tried, would immediately get the racist or privileged label.  it's a losing proposition to debate you and those that can't handle lose their temper.  this is why you got boxed.  your white male agenda on covers premise is simply an excuse.

if you actually could debate, you'd have greater value here i would think.

Nobody was saying covers should control a niche population. What was being said was that the dominant group of this site was white males and therefore their interests and perspectives will be served. 

When someone like myself bring up a 'sensitive' topic like racism among this group, it is met with outrage and censorship. And as far as SJP goes, we all suspect 'she' is unlikely to be a female. Even with the chance she is a female, she has been met with more misogyny than 'fervor.'

And your comment about white owned businesses is quite flippant and requires much more analysis than whether you or your two partners are white or black.

I would say the answer to your question is that white-owned businesses on the whole aren't intrinsically racist, they are flat-out racist. 

Contrary to what many on this site would like to believe or know, there are studies and statistics to back up this claim.

Legal scholars Alfred and Ruth Blumrosen conducted a study in 1999 of 10's of thousands of businesses and found at least one third discriminate regularly against black applicants, and at least 1.3 million blacks will face racial bias during their job search during their lifetime. (This is easily referenced through google but I will provide citations if you refuse to believe the claims in the previous paragraph). 

So you may think it's fine to nonchalantly dismiss business to be white owned because they simply make up more of the population, but when examined further those white owned business are playing THE primary role in exacerbating inequity of opportunity for blacks with regards to job opportunity.

How can I make such a unsupported claim? Get comfy because it's fully supported. 

#1 Black high school graduates have higher unemployment rates than white dropouts. (US Bureau of the Census, The National Data Book Page p.399).

#2 White men with college degrees earn 33% more than blacks with the same educational backgrounds. This controls for education. (p. 144 of the previous book). 

#3 White males with a CRIMINAL RECORD are more likely than black males WITH NO CRIMINAL RECORD AT ALL to get a callback for a job interview even when CONTROLLING FOR (and this is key because this is an excuse MANY I have spoken with have used for the bias), credentials, experience, demeanor, communication and dress style. (Study performed by Princeton sociology professor Devah Pager which you can google).

It seems to me, with a mere four citations, a black male (or female) about to enter the workforce would not only be discouraged from applying at a primarily white owned businesses for a position that had status and credibility and significant income, but would more or less find it meaningless since the probability of the hire would seem extremely low, if even possible. 

Are blacks being hired in these positions somewhere? SURE. But the barriers to discrimination for the overwhelming majority of black job applicants are evident. And it comes not from active malice toward blacks, but a general indoctrinated superior/inferior hierarchy of whites first/blacks last biased thinking that can occur in a white individual from as early as preschool.

THESE are the very jobs whites claim are necessary for the 'black community' to pull themselves up 'by their bootstraps' and make something of themselves, that is, have a steady income to be autonomous and raise a family (which they claim is on the white dime already).

Well, when white employers are discriminating like this (and much worse actually in what I haven't quoted), tell me Jay, how the hell are blacks supposed to get meaningful employment positions from white business owners who allegedly are not racist, when in reality, they are exactly that...

I hope and pray it is you that can debate Jay, because these issues go far beyond some guy who is as tall as someone's kneecap making a most muscular pose on a street corner.

We all like to debate and challenge each other - that's what makes us better cappers.  However I don't sense anything you've posted since you've been behind bars has been beneficial to the Covers community in anyway.  You have proven you know your stuff on the NBA and while I don't agree with your stance on some things, you create really solid arguments.  That therein lies the problem, you think or maybe even believe that your way of thinking is the right way or the only way.  You have to realize people are going to get sensitive to topics like race, religion and politics - please use some discretion and respect for others if you describe to talk about these issues.  You are completely entitled to post your own opinion, but when you vehemently defend yourself in the aggressive fashion you do - other's cannot help to assume you are a prick.  Please clean it up, I like some of the stuff you post and don't want to see you behind bars.  I think you are a good capper with some interesting beliefs and thoughts, but don't go try imposing those views on other people.

How about addressing the fact that a comprehensive study of American employers has shown that, at a minimum, 1/3 of all employers discriminate racially against blacks?

Think about that. A black male or female searching for a job, can expect on average, that 1 in 3 employers will not give them a job solely because of the color of their skin.

This of course is the lower bound. Once in the interview chair, the 'twice as good' statement doesn't even hold. Studies have shown blacks need up to EIGHT years more experience in a position to have an equal chance of attaining it when compared to a white applicant with eight years less experience.

Maybe "Eight is enough!" should be the new mantra.

Now you can dismiss these facts or ignore them, but these are constitutional rights that are being violated here. As a American, that of course, can extend over into ALL of our rights which is why this country is so adamant about defending them at all times - except of course when it comes to what Norman Rockwell called "The Problem."

racism is still apparent in our society.  take a step back and reflect on it.... racism is still apparent in our society, as is sexism, as is anti-semitism, as is anti-arab stance, as is weithism, ageism, etc....  people are just that way.

but when books made his comment, he was not really touching on your slant.  he was commenting on your delivery, and it really is insufferable.  as much as an online site member can disappoint me, you disappoint me scal.  i've said this countless times, its obvious that you are an intelligent human being.  i believe you have a great deal to offer. however,

1) you are not changing anyones minds at this point, in fact you are somehow making racism more annoying here than poignant.  you don't engage in healthy debate, you stand on your pulpit and lecture.  it is very much a one sided debate and anyone not 100 percent on your side is ignorant, retarded or stupid.  you've at least jaded your audience, at worst completely lost them.

2) as the smart man that you are, try, just once, discussing something else.  you MUST have other opinions on other topics.  you said that you had this grand realization after witnessing some craziness on covers.  you joined in 2006, five years ago.  even if you are just 20 (no way) you still had formed opinions at 15 prior to your revelation. i would like to know what else scal can speak about (WITH NO RACIST TALK).  does this mean that you feel any less passionate about the topic...no.  but does this mean that you can be well rounded and capable....yes.

Outside of the last sentence in post #158 (which you have completely disregarded unless you are responding to it now), you have a lot of debating to do Jay. 

And my main goal is not to change people's minds, as though that is some badge of honor I'm going to proudly wear as I beat my chest in a world with less racism. 

My main goal is to INFORM and let people make a personal decision for themselves; one they most likely wouldn't reveal here on a gambling website given its importance and my associated unpopularity. 

But they will know the FACTS and they will choose to temper those facts with the slander and bias they lay at the feet of the larger black community for the small segment of the population that makes the news. Every post here isn't about one black crime or one black incarceration or one black murder, it's directed towards ALL BLACKS. Someone invariably uses the 'community' reference in any thread about blacks which points to each and every black American. This type of attack is NEVER leveled at the white community because they are the dominant group and they will not subscribe to such thinking or allow it to flourish. There is no WHITE pathology in terms or crime/drug use/murder/molestation/rape etc. When it comes to white crime, it's about INDIVIDUALS not skin color. It is quite the opposite with regard to blacks and black crime.

I'll tell you this, I will not approach the community members of this site with SirJohn's water lilies on bended knee because it's 'annoying.' It's GOOD that it's annoying. When it's annoying, it means it's relevant in some way/shape/form. 

And as far as discussing something else, I have capped here for the entire five years I have been here. My threads offer a pick with a sideshow and the point is to cap and entertain. You can search on any of them. Also, I obviously have addressed sexism as well as factory farming in America at length several times in the GD forum. I have also interrogated one of the most unsavory individuals who has ever been a part of this site: Salty and his 'holiday erection episodes' with nomadic tribes of middle-aged women going door to door just to witness him in a state of slovenly drunken slumber.

Wow....you are much much worse than I ever thought.....I always think it's funny when I hear people talk about employers and what they do and don't do....the reality is unless you are an employer yourself or work with companies you really have no idea what you are talking about....

My family runs a business that deals with a vast range of employers...we are in the people business in helping all ranges of people find employment....we offer HR, Payroll, Benefits and Work Comp support to thousands of employers around the country....you could not be further off on your assessment of employers....I can tell you that me and my family are the only white people that work directly in our office and we are definitely in the minority...I wil add that the only discrimnation I have ever heard in the 20 years I have worked their and dealt with our clients is towards the Hispanics....and it was not negative towards them, but the fact that they only wanted to hire them because of the language barrier of speaking Spanish....

We are one of the largest employers in our area and myself and our company have never experienced any of what you say and hiring is what we do for a living....Our familly has been helping others find work and assisting employers with administrative support for nearly 25 years and if we haven't experienced what you are saying than it's tough to see your point at all really....we work with both blue and white collar companies and the fact that you are of this opinion is disturbing....I can tell you that Staffing companies have their finger on the pulse of the workforce, as according to the American Staffing Association about 90% of comapanies in the US use Staffing companies of some sort or at some point or another....That's a high number so if you think I'm spewing bullshit to support my point I'm not...

I do know what I am talking about here and I get annual statistics on the hiring numbers myself and I prepare our annual EEOC reports and what your opinion could not be further from the truth....you need to stop with this shit....you are either very ignorant or intentionally trying to stir shit up on here with your comments, but I can assure you that you are not accurate in any of your points about the hiring of black people....and this is coming from someone who knows the truth.....and I can tell you what the difference is with race and how they work or apply themselves while working.....there is some differences, but it really does depend on the caliber of the individual...I have trained thousands of people to do a vast majority of jobs so you need to quit already with this .......Seriously dude, just stop it!

Please allow me to summarize what everyone is saying to you.

It is OKAY to have your own personal views on any subject. It's just that you're having a hard time avoiding trying to push those views on everyone else, and THAT is what's causing the big issue.

If you just stop all of this and talk sports (which I've heard you're pretty good at) then you'll likely be out a lot sooner rather than later.

I have a hunch that you feel that if you just succumb and stop talking about all of this, then you are kowtowing to us (the mods). But...in actuality, I personally don't see it that way. I see it as catching more flies with honey than with vinegar.

Just stopping all of this nonsense won't make anyone think any less of you and/or your views.
