You and Beets are doing NOTHING in the way of promoting GENERAL DISCUSSION, which of course encompasses topics of race relations, because you are OFFENDED I speak the way I do about white males, you being one of them. Scal -- for such a smart dude, you really seem to have trouble understanding that your message of equality really gets lost in the presentation. Wouldn't you be much more effective in changing hearts and minds (which has to be the only reason you post things on race-related topics, because if it isn't, then why are you wasting your energy?) if you were able to discuss these things rationally?
Something about honey and vinegar?

You are an idiot. Obviously. I am not saying there is not racism. BUt it is not near as extreme as present here in day to day life. I have a ton of African American friends and not once have I heard 1 of them complain about their job situation. They have worked for hard and have gotten what the deserve. Matter of fact 1 just got promoted over a white guy with the exact same qualifications and he called it unfair because there was no interview. THe bottom line is you are way too extreme with all of your views. It makes it impossible to take you serious. Just like dumbass Al Sharpton and Jesse JAckson. Unfortunately, you have little to do with what is a national issue. Blacks are suffering from housing, employment, health care and general societal discrimination daily. This creates chasms in wealth and status that widen each and every day.
What I say does matter, because if it didn't people wouldn't pay attention. And really, if it were someone else with another name or avatar, the result would be the same. Race DOES matter in America because we are a multicultural society. If people didn't think that was relevant in terms of racial hierarchy, they'd leave me be like they did with RichardA/JerryRice and his incoherent maniacal ranting.

I am simply mirroring the general attitudes that the black community faces on a daily basis, that is, largely hostile (even if it's presented subtly).
And frankly, it's two-thousand-fucking-eleven and I, and people like me who know history, can quote history, and knows its relevance to the current race based situation in America, are tired of blacks (and women, and hispanics and asians and muslims etc. etc. etc.) suffering from what are now systematic civil rights abuses fully entrenched within American institutions.
Also, I am tired of the 'white whine' whenever I bring up the topic or counter a thread topic dealing with black crime. Why is that I have to appease the dominant group in a fashion they find desirable? Why must I come to a meeting with roses and daffodils and drop the petals before my adversaries to present my point as they approach.
Sometimes, ya just have to kick the fucking door down and barge right through. Given the discrimination minorities are currently suffering from (see the employment discrimination example above), its time for action not appeasement.
I genuflect to no one. If it doesn't change minds, oh well. Outside of black exceptionalism (i.e. Obama - who is biracial btw) the larger black community is still suffering from mass discrimination because of skin color.

No one cares about a select group of black individuals who are in your circle of friends. Your are espousing a long-held belief by whites, dating back to right after the emancipation, that blacks, 'are treated very well or equal to whites' according to white opinion polls. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
And again, you are not grasping the point about entitlement. I am speaking about EQUAL OPPORTUNITY. That is completely different than saying a black person should get a job just because they are black and have been denied previously. What about them? That question is too open-ended for me to address with any focus. Of course Asians suffer from discrimination in this country to degrees whites will deny to the high heavens. Their discrimination is distinct from black discrimination in terms of stereotypes and effect, but still exists to the point where legal challenges can and should be made (that is, they are serious enough to warrant attention and action).
