Tonight's ref. calling this game is almost as bad as when Hawks played Pitts in the SB. This time it went Seattle's way.

If you look at the point of contact where the ball touches a human hand it is Jennings' hands that actually CATCH the ball. Tate gets his hand in and touches the ball but he is not actually "catching" it. Again, look at he POINT OF CONTACT and tell me Tate is catching it. ZOOM IN, SLOW IT DOWN and look at the point of contact.

It was not simultaneous possession. Got to be kidding me.

Possession is not touching it first.  The point of contact is not as important as who has possessin when possession is obtained.

Touching it first doesnt mean you possess it first - by yourself.

    3 keys to the Fckn....

    1. Roughing the passer on Walden???? Unfckn real....

    2. Pass interference on Shields? When Rice had his hands on Shields shoulders, then raked his hand across his facemask. Shields had inside looking back while Rice mugged him

    3. And the Grand Finale.............Woww

Point of possession isnt made at the point of contact. It also isnt just made when a player gets two feet on the ground. Remember that possession must also be contained once they hit the ground and at that point 4 hands were on the ball.

So if a player jumps in the air, catches the ball with both hands, and brings it to their chest, but then lands completely out of bounds, it is a catch???      huhhhhhhh???  , posession is shown by where and how you land

Van, he not only "touched it first," he touched it first and cusped the ball with his fingers in the catching motion.   He CAUGHT the ball.

I think the most important thing that the majority seem to be missing here is that even though Jennings had MORE of the possession, Tate had SOME of the possession.

    Read that again.

Im not trying to make a case that this was "fair" or "just".  Im just saying that by the rule, the way I understand it - if Tate had some of the possession, he gets the call.

It was clearly a blown call, I wish they would let everyone know who the replay official was so they would have to answer for their decision. They have no one to answer to. I have seen this happen in other games favoring the home team, but it wasn't on the last play of the game. If what you see is not what you see, why watch.

When did Tate ever have possession Van?   Jennings caught the bal and maintained possession 100 percent of the way to the ground.

This post makes no sense.  both players were inbounds so your example doesn't apply. And not you have to be in bounds to possess the ball.  Isn't that common sense? Don't think it needs to be stated.  If tate was out of bounds no catch either so what is your point?

Gotta have both feet down to have total control?  Only had one down before Tate wrapped him up?  Always hate that in basketball with jump ball, when one guy has it and another can reach around and touch it and call jump ball...kind of similar.

You obviously had money on GB and completely delusional. If he secured the ball then there wouldnt even be a debate. Once both players hit the ground and 4 hands are on the ball, that IS simultaneous possession. It doesnt matter who had the ball near his chest.

Im not trying to make a case that this was "fair" or "just".  Im just saying that by the rule, the way I understand it - if Tate had some of the possession, he gets the call.

What are you seeing that makes you think Tate had any possession of the ball?  because he had his arm tangled up in between Jennings arms?  That's possession to you?

Vanzack,  you are correct!!!!  I cant believe people are saying Tate did not have any amount of posession, if he has 1 percent, it goes to the OFFENSE

and if you look at the point when Tate's feet hit the ground on the way down his hand loses touch with the ball.  Landing on teh ground jolts his whole body and he adjust his gripm which wasnt even a grip to begin with really.  His hand slips off the ball at that point in time.

Tate got possession when Jennings caught the ball then proceeded to bring it towards his chest where Tate's hand/arm was the entire time. THERE YOU GO!!!!!!

IF this is true, then I concede.

But I havent seen this to be true, and I challenge you to prove it is.  I see Tates hand on the ball the WHOLE TIME.

Having an arm on the ball is not possession.  I can't believe there are so many people that can't grasp the rule
