    Thank for another winner!!

    I wanted to ask u...

Do you play everyday( even if its just 50$ TV game to pass the time) and post only the ones you feel "sure" about?

Or do you really play a few plays a months (great disispline if you do)?

I play between 40$ and 150$ a play but a few times a year (like 2-5) I lay the lumber down (500$-2k) and I do really well in those..

    Thanks and wow!!

Hey there scal, just wanted to say thanks again for the write up. Much appreciated. I was unable to bet at the start of the game because I was a little to late, but when it came half time and when they were only down 5 with my bookie giving 6.5 @half was just the same amount as if they were given 11.5 for fg. Glad I still bet on the second half lakers, I knew they would have climb back to cover that spread but what a shocker they even hit ML. Good job scal, can't wait for what you have in store for the future!

as always thanks again man, now i just gotta work on not goin and doubling down with my winnings on other sketch games haha luckily a few pregame/in game bets on Suns bailed me out of a rough night. another lesson in patience I suppose.. I can really go off the rails once I foresee a nice easy cover I have on a large bet and lose my money before I even have it. as always I also doubled down in game when the lakers were sucking it up 1st quarter. nice way around my wager limit if I'm feelin confident.

If I say they'll bring the defense tonight, they'll bring it the next night. If I say they're gonna get on a hot streak this week, they'll do it next week. It's not that I'm wrong about this team, but my timing is off. Not sure why. But it's the difference between winning and losing, in most cases.

I had a much better feel for my Niners team, but that was also football. And there is world of difference between reading a guy like Harbaugh and how he will get his team to react to a win or a loss and a Mark Jackson (and the NBA in general, since it is such a players' league). Look at the Grizz, for instance, it doesn't matter who coaches them. Those guys self-motivate and go about their business. You can count on a team like that, in that you know what you will get on most nights. Which is rare in the NBA these days. So I'll be keeping a close eye on the Grizz in the next few weeks. Same with Dallas. They still have Dirk and a very good coach.

I too feel like I have a better feel for the Jets and Giants (the NFL) than I do NBA teams (except this year I'm really honed in on the Knicks - but, and this is important, it has taken a lot more of my time to do that which many here don't have it won't commit to).

Do you know why it is easier, or at least seems easier to cap the NFL?

Because you are forced to wait a week. No matter how much you want to bet your team, you MUST sit back and wait an average of 7 days.

That is a GREAT thing for a capper. It forces us to watch everything going on outside the team in their week off and allows us time to even get a good feel for their opponent.

The NBA? Much worse. Why? Games for your team every other night on average. That is WAY too much. Do you see how much I post? On average, once a week. Why? I've broken down my NBA season like the NFL season when it comes to write-ups. I do bet in the meantime but nothing major.

You will win a lot more if you do this. The problem? It's almost impossible to do with a full slate of games every night. There is another problem. You are forced to win your big picks (the write-up picks) to build your bankroll. Lose those picks and you better start winning very quickly before your roll disappears. That's a bad spot to be in if you lose, especially when you have to wait another week.

Even screwing around in the meantime can do major damage to your bankroll.

I also wanted to mention that I have an advantage in capping you couldn't possibly have.

My local media is OBSESSED with the Knicks, Jets and Giants. It's like an ESPN channel dedicated to hose three teams alone. What do you need when that happens to make all that Information useful? A filter. Since I've done this since grammar school, the filter is already built and in place and becomes more fine-tuned by the day. I know you know what this feels like when it comes to you team after capping for many years obviously.

But the Bay Area can't possibly have the extent of the media coverage I have. Nor does it have the history (let's leave the Niners titles out of. this!), or payroll (Knicks are one of the single worst dollar for dollar teams in the history of sports) or fan allegiance. Those things matter. Every game becomes much more magnified because of it. And yes, outside of knowing everything that goes on of can go on, on the court the drama of NYC greatly contributes to my local team's performances and individual player mentality.

So I can see how capping Mark Jackson and however he'll handle his team against a certain defense can be incredibly frustrating.

I cap a head coach in Woodson. I go in saying "He's awful!" and I work from there. Ya can't get too much worse (he doesn't do much at this point really so it's one less variable I have to worry about).

Points shouldn't matter much in the NBA when you are getting 4/4.5 points (at 5 points start to become more and more valuable).

But when the books are giving you a baker's dozen? At home no less? Then you take everything they have to offer if the situation is right.

I had a dozen points yesterday so when Westbrook is shooting a three to tie it and send it to OT, I had me feet up. Go into OT guys, you can't cover 12 there. That is the advantage of taking that many points even if the ML hits. The outcome is 99% certain midway through the 4th against one of the most prolific offenses and offensive players to ever live, against a bad team no less! Yes the ML is much sweeter but the points are too huge a buffer to pass up.

I do play in the meantime but small like you. Nothing worth posting although there are a couple games here and there I wish I posted. Then I slam my major bets (write-ups) in comparison.

But be careful, small losses can have you chasing late games you know little about and that turns into bigger losses. Before ya know it you have to hit your big bets to cover your small losses. I'm sure you're quite familiar with this.

All the time you put into the big bets and the only benefit is to cover you 'screwing around' plays...and you BETTER hit that major play or else...

Good job scal, can't wait for what you have in store for the future!

Glad you realized the value at the half. It was basically the same full game line (even though you shouldn't look at it that way, the point is well taken).

Aw man. I had a great night. Why? I didn't make a single bet. It was all said and done by 6PM. Take the money and run and take a night off after a hit!
