He’ll yeah!!! Love the no doubters![]()
Today’s goal is simple, break down the entire card, identify the edges, then stress test those edges into oblivion.
I’m looking for ONE position that survives everything I throw at it.
Find the edge. Test it. Confirm it. Lock and load.
That’s the plan today….Let’s get to work….

Miami 1st 5 -0.5 is definitely live for me. The lineups are out, Eury Perez has the clear starting pitching edge, and Miami gets a very hittable Jake Irvin on the other side.
It is not at the top of my board right now. I have a couple later games graded higher, but I am still waiting on those lineups before I can make a true comparison.
Miami may end up being a pass simply because of timing, not because I do not like the spot. At -0.5 -120, it is absolutely playable. Just may not be for me today

Pre lineup, but I kind of like the Cubs today.
Kade Anderson is not your average rookie. He is one of the best pitching prospects in baseball and I am not looking to blindly fade him. But Seattle’s bats have been flat, especially against lefthanded pitching, while Chicago has been one of the better offenses in baseball against lefties.
Still plenty to dig into once the lineups are out

the cubs pitcher has an ERA of 6.09 this season. thats up from last season 4.21. his WHIP is up also from last season. hard to trust him with those numbers

The 6.09 was Peterson’s ERA with the Mets before the Cubs acquired him. His full season ERA is now 5.29 compared with 4.21 last year, and his WHIP has definitely gone in the wrong direction. So from a traditional stats standpoint, saying he is hard to trust is completely fair.
The under the hood numbers do give us a little more context though. His 4.95 xERA is better than the 5.29 ERA, but it is still mediocre. His strikeout rate is down, walks are slightly up, and the expected numbers are not telling us he has secretly been great.
The encouraging part is the contact quality has improved. His hard hit rate is down, average exit velocity is down, barrel rate is still solid, and he has pitched much better lately.
So the criticism is valid. Peterson is definitely one of the risks if I like Chicago. The deeper numbers do not erase that. They just tell us he has probably pitched more like a 5.00 ERA guy than a complete 6.00 plus disaster, and his recent form has been better.

@greenhead
The question for tonight is whether that little offensive surge carries over against a lefty, because that’s still where Seattle has struggled. So I’d downgrade the flat bats argument and focus more on the matchup with Peterson.

Truck is a bad man if he finds way to back Peterson with the Cubs winning. Peterson has pitched the best month of his life but that doesn't matter, he shouldn't be in the majors Truck can drop the mike and walk away with all the bags.
