Couple thoughts

Webb’s at 9 pitches, 6 strikes, 3 balls, and the interesting part is he’s gone slider 56% so far. Only 22% fastballs, with one change and one cutter.

So he’s basically saying, I’m going to make you hit the slider

Yep  one hit apiece, 0-0, absolutely no traffic. This is a straight up pitchers duel right now.

And honestly, that’s fine for me. I knew Webb could turn the first half into a fucking desert. As long as Melton keeps matching him, we’re alive exactly where we wanted to be

No panic at all. Melton has matched him, nobody has generated real traffic, and we bought nine innings for this exact reason. Now we start getting into the second trip through the order and see who blinks first

Leadoff man on, nobody out, in a 0-0 game where runs are clearly at a premium.

This is exactly the kind of inning where you have to cash something in. Move him, make Webb pitch from the stretch, force some traffic, and find one fucking run.

Melton looks fantastic agreed no need to worry 

A run or two here would be absolutely huge. 

First and third, nobody out is the first real stress point of the game.

This is where Melton has to limit damage. A run might happen here. The key is do not let one turn into three. Get a ground ball, get an out somewhere, keep the inning from snowballing
