Houston has been one of the hottest teams in baseball, and this lineup has been doing real damage against right handed pitching.

Javier looks healthy again and has been missing bats since returning. Bieber, on the other hand, is coming off a complete disaster and now has to deal with a Houston lineup that does not give him many places to hide.

That is why I am attacking the first five. I expect Houston to put pressure on Bieber early and grab control of the game.

The full game is the extension of that same handicap. If I am right through five and Houston is playing from in front, I should be sitting in a strong position to ride it the rest of the way

Under the hood, Bieber just has not been any fucken good.

The contact has been loud, the barrels have been there, and hitters are consistently squaring him up. This is not one bad outing or a couple unlucky innings. The damage has been fully earned.

Houston is catching him in a spot where the profile says big fn trouble.

The contact profile is not clean, and when hitters square him up, they can do damage. The difference is he still owns a legitimate swing and miss weapon.

His fastball and sweeper give him a way to get out of trouble on his own. Bieber has been getting hit hard without that same escape hatch.

Neither pitcher is perfect. I just trust Javier’s current stuff a hell of a lot more.
