Yeah, let's say, for instance, "Jerusalem" vanishes in a flash of atoms splitting at light speed, then you'll see spot price of bullion at 2000 bucks an ounce at light speed.

Sallie is probably just fine..not as crazy as Fannie and Freddie and more safe. It isnt glamorous and probably wont make you as much but there is less risk to the stock. I dont get why Sallie is public either, the government should take them over if you ask me.
These swings are just goofy...down up down up down up and it should continue until the credit markets unfreeze and participants come back to get involved and bring some stability to the markets.

Natural gas "seems" to be bucking the crude sell-off, or "it isn't getting clobbered as much as we thought it might," which in this world is as good as it gets for the bulls.
Don't ask me why or how, cause nothing makes sense anymore in a totally rigged "free market," but solars (FSLR, SPWRA) and natural gas futures will work for bulls over the next month.

Oil coming down REALLY REALLY saves these airlines..now fuel prices are back to levels in which BK wont happen and I imagine some of the carriers are locking in future fuel at these prices.
If fuel prices keep falling some of these names will make a TON of money, especially the ones who came out of BK clean not long ago, like DAL.
These fert stocks keep getting mushed..POT, IPI, MOS, MON
I imagine we could see +200 or -300 in the last hour with how thin the markets are.

The thin trading is reflective of 1.hedge funds being forced to the sidelines Hedge funds choosing to head to the sidelines 3.Individuals bailing out 4. the evaporation of wealth for both of the above...or ????

Hedgies being on the sidelines, MMs holding back, financial firms being on the sidelines.
The retail guy really doesnt do anything in the market, so I dont include them at all in the equation.
To me this is hedgies, MMs and financial firms being gunshy or just plain out of the market.
Here is a good example..look at the spreads on most stocks, they are wider especially on the higher beta companies, the bids arent deep or large and the options market is a joke.

US
investors pulled a record $65bn out of mutual funds in the week to last
Friday, as their losses mounted from failing stock and bond markets.
Two-thirds of the money was drawn from equity funds, which saw outflows
of close to $9bn on Friday alone. Equity funds have had outflows of
$56bn during October so far – the largest monthly drop since records
began almost 20 years ago
Does this not factor in?

Yeah that is not what I consider retail investors.
401k investors are not really TRADERS and dont add liquidity to the markets. 401k investors do effect MF companies and their transactions but think about it in total dollars and volume. MMs, Hedgies and financial firms for their OWN accounts are those who are making the bid and offers.
When I was a broker we did order flow for THREE hedge funds and financial firms..these guys just tossed it in at the market for the most part..they werent supporting or holding a position, just buy it or sell it.

Gotcha..."retail investor" is one of the many terms I have always heard bandied about, and I for one never knew what seemed to be a highly elastic definition of it.

I think its pretty safe to say that those short sellers killed the stock last week. it's no coinensedense that this rally 40% came 1 day before option expiration date.

I havent played any bases so far this post season, how about you?
I am considering the BYU/TCU game..thinking about the over if the line drops some. I think BYU's defense can give up point and I think BYU's offense can score if they get down.

i like your over thoughts on that BYU game. I played FSU -11 so far....been playing MLB here and there....I have TB for the series and it's a strange line tonight. My inital reaction is I want to hammer TB, but it seems to enticing so I'm gonna think about it some more....Im gonna tail ya on that BYU over
