there must be a load of nervous shorts in LVS. got a DTD down to 9.20 and in less than 10 mins going into the close it came right back to 9.59 before getting a late dump to settle @ 9.43 (9.37 after hours)
MGM closed @ 7.80 (7.74 after hours)
will see what happens thursady BUT considering the comeback LVS and, to a certain extent, MGM made today, it's looking like any "Get Me the FUVK OUT" moves are still a traders BUY.

comments on Dover Downs (DDE - nyse)
just put on my stock watch. I'm taking no action yet. it's probably a "position stock" rather than a trader. just too thin like NYNY but they ARE making money which is something in the current gaming enviroment.
and bot 3k LVS @ 9.18 for (hopefully) another last hour "scare da bear" day trade.

The new legislation in Delaware (table games and sports gambling) can only help Dover Downs operations.

well we can "forgetabout" Dover Downs as a sports betting play....
"(Gov) Markell's proposal calls for a statewide sports lottery that only allows parlay bets." (AND I would suspect would be run as a halfassed "paramutual")
also, "He'll (Gov Markell) also propose that an unspecified number of locations, such as sports bars around the state be allowed to sell sports lottery tickets. He's hoping to develop a study of table gaming and eventually push for multiple casinos in the state." so it sound like DDE would hardly have an "exclusive" on the action.

I thought he was petitioning the Delaware Supreme Court to get a ruling over whether single game bets could occur? Expected to know by the end of May.
I agree with you . . . if he can't make that happen then who cares. Who the hell wants to bet on sucker bets I mean parlays?
It is hard enough winning 50% of your bets let alone your parlays.

Oh let's face it. We're screwed. There is no light at the end of the tunnel whatsoever.
The bailout packages did 2 things----saved the bankers' arses and bought the world some time----but when the time is up (5-6 years), the hurricane coming through will be about a category 500 on a scale of 1-5.

What the f can these bozos do now? Lower rates to 0.0%? Print more money? That's all they can do.

rink - tracinda/kerkorian bought 100M MGM at 7. filed today
sure didn't make a shit thursday. all the gamers opened up BUT got clipped late. stocks STILL have been acting like "Freddy Kruger goes to Wall Street." even when they DO take a beating they have come right back within a couple days and ram the bears in the ass.
and STILL usually can't get stock to short in either LVS or MGM so there is ooodles of shorts in both stocks.

Clay: You're right about the soon bankrupt social security. I hope you're wrong about the rest of the predictions. I just made the point about Buffett because I assumed you respected his opinion based on your avatar.
On an unrelated note, it looks like I might finally get back in the green on the OCNF that I bought a couple of wks ago. The chart and today's earnings rpt makes me think better days are ahead.
