    One last thing-

I have read most of this thread and I am quite pleased it is civil and cordial. I think people are voicing their views without a lot of childish type bashing, it is appreciated. It is a tough, emotional topic in an odd place and I am appreciate the opportunity to talk about this without being judged. Like I said initially, I needed a place to get it off my chest and this thread has accomplished some of that.

    Thank you my covers brethren.

Now the physical world........remember physical world......it is the number one rule in the scientific field, that SOMETHING cannot be derived from nothing.......This is in the physical world......

Therefore, there is  NO alternative but to the cause that this world derived from the spiritual world..........There are NO world wide rules regarding the spiritual world, therefore one cannot explain where God came from...........Perhaps in the spiritual world, something can come from nothing......but i am not here to say that.........

Science view of the big bang theory is seriously flawed, again, in the physical world, somethng cannot come from nothing.......No one knows the answer to the spiritual world........

I would much rather side with the spiritual world as this is the only possible alternative where the earth came from.....

Again, if we are sitting in your lounge room and we heard a big bang and u said, i wonder what caused that, and i said, absolutely nothing caused that.u would think i am nuts,,,,,,,,,,,

Like I said, I don't read too many full books, but as you know, with the internet, education is only a click away...............

    cheers sir

Hitchens? A socialist? not my style.
Thomas Paine? As in "Common Sense?" I'll look into it.
Maher? too arrogant...he's too "right" all the time.
Carlin - He was funny in the 70's

Ohio State is playing a team who's possessed... I know, bad joke

Regarding the fact that something can't come from nothing, that's basically Aquinas' argument and can be easily opposed.

Something had to always be here, whether it's God or the initial singularity that caused the big bang, something had to always be here.

As humans, we can't help but think of things in terms of beginning and end, but that may not always be the case. It is not only possible but almost a certainty that something had no beginning and just was. Like I said above, call it God, call it the first particle, call it a flying spaghetti monster if you wish. What you call it is irrelevant, just understand that "it" was always there.

Sit here and pontificate this question: "Do you honestly believe the universe was created through magic by an invisible man in the sky?" Come on? Seriously?

Scientifically and mathematically, it is proven that something cant come from nothing........This equation holds in the PHYSICAL UNIVERSE......THE ONE WE LIVE IN.........

Therefore, there is only one alternative where this came from......The spritual world.....There is simply no alternative......U r right when u say it has to come from something, the only alternative is the spiritual world...........

But Atheists dont believe in any other world.....

Now, based on the fact that this could have only come from the spiritual world.......Lets look at the fine tuning of the world.....Everything has been put together perfectly to support life.......If the sun, or gravity or any of the surrounding planets are closer or further away, then life wouldnt exist.........

For everything to perfectly fit as it does by luck, the odds are billions of billions of billions to one........That is a pure indicator that there is inteligent design (creator) behind this......

From there I believe God created this world and sent his son to model to man how life should be lived.......

Through this, we are on a journey to love and learn from each other and God.....,There has to be a purpose behind everything, there just has to be........People that dont i believe live an empty life......

Invite God in your life.......learn about him and i trust u u wont regret it........

When man strays away from this, they live a life of sin, unhappiness and depression........

We are not here for ever........People have money as there God...but this earthly possesion is only temporary.....

Rostos: please stop, seriously, you're making things up now. A spiritual world? Come on. How do you even post this as an argument? I logically go through how it makes sense that something always had to exist and you say no, that's not true, but then you go on and say a spiritual world exists? Spiritual world = God, IT'S THE SAME THING. Instead of arguing for God's existence you now have to argue for the existence of a spiritual world. The only world we know of is this one so you can't justify any arguments that aren't valid based on this world. The same logic you try to use to refute my argument, obliterates your own. Good job, you made this much easier for me.

Hang on, u are carrying on as if u can prove there is no God......

    this is a debate.......

Professors with numerous PHD's in physics have accepted something cannot be created from nothing..But a Covers forum member can?

I already said I can't prove that-no one can, my issue is with you basing your argument off a spiritual world that you can't prove exists either. Your arguments must contain statements that are closer to fact than that which you are arguing for. The existence of God and the existence of a spiritual world are equally doubtful (or probable, from your perspective). The point is the odds of either existing is the same. Using either one as a basis for the other's existence is employing circular logic. If you want to base the likelihood of the existence of God on the existence of a spiritual world, you must first provide support for the existence of a spiritual world...but if you attempt to do that, you'll be using the same arguments you use to support your belief in God, so why not skip the middle man, metaphorically speaking?

Ok, lets look at this logically.......

Something cannot be created from nothing. This is a physical property of the physical real world.Accepted as a number 1 rule in science...........Professors all around the world accept this.....Also any reasonable person accepts this.....

The reality is, something has been created from nothing...The universe has an age.........from the time it was born.so it had to have come from something........

There are many ways to approach this. But the truth, nobody can prove or disprove this. I dont think its worth the argument because there are thoughts/ideas from a bunch of different people. (Everyone from theologists to scientists have their ideas)

By the way CACA I did play college golf.

    nice,,,,,,,good for you bro

    couple questions:

1.) Did they give full-ride scholarships for golf at the school you attended

2.) Did you have "fans" at your golf tournaments?  Do people come out and watch college tournaments?

3.) Do you work in a golf related field nowadays?

Never a sport I could get into, played a few times (not to mention took a golf class in college  ), could drive it pretty well (but never knew where it was going), could putt a little, but had so much trouble using irons.................

Now 304 posts and no answer because you have a great question and no answers.  It is not a flaw in Christianity to want to live as God designed us.  It is not a flaw of God's that we are selfish and enjoy sin.

As for the question this group is turning towards.  The movie EXPELLED by Ben Stein is an excellent answer to the concept of Big Bang or evolution.

When any one can prove to me God does not exist I will listen.

When some one can prove to me how life began i will listen.

If there is proof, until then my belief is just as creditable as anyone else.

You can reject what you want and pay the consequences as can I.

My main point before is I have a great life believing and If i am right then it is good for me and if I am wrong nothing, but I have a great life.

For the selfish God rejecting one who hates life if I am right they GO TO HELL and if they are right we get the same, nothing.

And I got a great life, no matter I WIN

technically, in the last 50 years, one could argue that the 1984 and 2003 teams were "worthy" of a trip to the world series, or "world championship" as you like to call it, but, we all how that shit ended.....................
