I could quote a Stephen King book and that doesn't make ghosts real.

    --------------------------------------------------------------

The author Stephen King has never claimed his books are real and that's why you'll find his books in the fictional section of book stores or libraries.

Whereas all religious books are normally placed in the non-fiction section. This includes the Bible and the scriptures of other religions.

Many think that needs to be changed since it is full of fiction

I'm sure there are plenty of authors who wrote stories about the paranormal that have claimed what they wrote was real including ghosts, poltergeists, ufos, etc. Should we take their word at face value?

Follow up question to my last post...for the believers: Are you willing to admit that god exists but maybe you have it all wrong? Maybe there is a god but there is no heaven or hell? Maybe there is a god and he's mean and sends EVERYONE to hell? Maybe there is a god but he doesn't love us and we're nothing but ants to it, maybe it doesn't even know or care we exist, like microorganisms in some science lab?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Look, don't you have faith in something?...(obviously not) Or is it that you are just so lost and overwhelmed with the many different things one can believe in like what you've mentioned above.

Clearly it depicts a lost person who doesn't know what to believe in or where to start believing and having faith into what it is.

Well, we Christians have absolute faith in Jesus Christ. Our faith is based on Jesus Christ. The Christian religion is based on the life, ministry, miracles, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Jesus had disciples who followed Him and knew Him personally and saw the miracles He performed and the holiness of His character.

They were the witnesses of His resurrection from the dead. They knew He was the Son of God. Some of them wrote their Gospels and can be read in the New Testament of the Holy Bible.

The Lord Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never die." ----John 11:25 NLT

Now isn't it time you put your absolute faith into something agentcooper...why not start with putting your absolute faith into Jesus Christ today?

I can't think of a single good reason to put absolute faith in anything. In fact, I can't think of a single logical reason to put faith anything without evidence.

    Jesus Lied About Prayer

Jesus is quoted many times in the Bible saying that a believer can ask for anything through prayer and receive it.  He even goes so far as to say that mountains and trees can be thrown into the sea simply by praying for it.  This is clearly a lie, and can be proven to be a lie by any believer.  Simply pray for me to be converted to Christianity right away.  Or better yet ask God to move the mountains.  He could make a lot of converts that way.  If I’m converted today, I’ll post a public apology.   If I’m not converted it would only be fair for you to apologize.

Here are the quotes from Jesus that proves that he lied:

        1)  And Jesus answered and said to them, "Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, `Be taken up and cast into the sea,' it will happen.  "And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive."  (Matthew 21:21-22 NAS)

        2)  Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.  (Matthew 7:7-8 NAB)

        3)  Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven.  For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.  (Matthew 18:19-20 NAS)

        4)  Amen, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it shall be done for him.  Therefore I tell you, all that you ask for in prayer, believe that you will receive it and it shall be yours.  (Mark 11:24-25 NAB)

        5)  And I tell you, ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.  (Luke 11:9-13 NAB)

        6)  And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it.  (John 14:13-14 NAB)

        7)  If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you.  (John 15:7 NAB)

        8)  It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you.  (John 15:16 NAB)

        9)  On that day you will not question me about anything.  Amen, amen, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you.  Until now you have not asked anything in my name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete.  (John 16:23-24 NAB)

A lot of Christians ignore what Jesus actually says in the Bible.  They also tend to add things to the actual words to make them say something else.  If you honestly and truthfully read these quotes, without adding to them, it is very easy to see that Jesus is not saying that God will think about your prayers.  He says God will grant all your prayers.  Clearly, God doesn’t grant all prayers and this proves that Jesus was a habitual liar.

    It appears you visited evilbible.com?

Your whole post is a cut and paste from their website...an atheist website. I know you never told me you were an atheist but I knew I was right all along when I called you one and you responded by telling me that you never told me that you were an atheist.

Well this pretty much proves that you are one. Or are you going to lie to me and say no?...lol

Remember telling lies is a sin but what do you care about sins...you don't believe in sins and so you will lie anytime it suits your needs...you are not held accountable for anything you do because you are an atheist...right...lol

First off, our Lord Savior Jesus Christ was sinless throughout His entire life and so because He was sinless, He was not a liar. Telling lies is a sin.

Again because you are an atheist and don't fully understand anything in the Holy Bible you will misinterpret and not fully understand key verses in the bible and what their true meanings really are.

Later when I have time I will explain those verses as thoroughly and clearly as I can possibly be to avoid misunderstandings. Right now it's meal time...oh boy!

    Prayer.......

Here are a few things to think about.

Suppose God exists 100% beyond any doubt. Now in the most recent NBA finals, all the HEAT team pray so God helps them win the title AND all the Thunder team pray to God so God helps them win the title.....What does God do? .

Could the Thunder say, God doesn exist because they prayed and they didnt get what they asked for?

Suppose we pray for something , ie, a job, patching up a relationship with a girlfriend, an operation, overcoming a disease etc etc.....Now, while we are seeking God to help us, by seeking God, we are asking God for the best....Our problem as mortal humans is that we dont know the alternative and the impact it could have for us.......

In the NBA finals i gave. If God helped the Heat win because by doing so, such a scenario will result the Heat players learning something that is beneficial for them and the thunder players will learn something that is beneficial for them when they lose? God does this because people have seeked him in this case.

Here is an example. A friends mother had a problem where she had problems swallowing food and drinking water..At the time she was fairly elderly and over weight. She is a strong believer who has lots of faith. Anyways, this was a pretty bad problem. She would pray to God like she does every night, but in this case she asked God to heal her so she could swallow...From face value, the problem continued for a year and her prayers from what it seemed like werent getting answered, her faith took a bit of a hit but she still believed.......Today, she has improved but still has a minor problem, very minor......she has lost alot of weight because of this.

Now, you are saying, you see, prayer doesnt work, she has faith faith, prays every night and God didnt heal her....

Now think of this. She was fairly elderly, overweight. What if she never got this problem or God healed her immediately. The chances are that she will still be overweight, maybe as a result of this weight problem at her age, she would have gotten alot more serious issues, maybe a heart attack? A disease? etc etc.....

Maybe by God giving her this, actually saved her life?

Our problem as mere mortals, are that we dont know what the alternative is AND what we think is good for us, is actually not good for us and the alternative is actually much better for us.

    Just something to think about

First off, our Lord Savior Jesus Christ was sinless throughout His entire life and so because He was sinless, He was not a liar. Telling lies is a sin.

Again because you are an atheist and don't fully understand anything in the Holy Bible you will misinterpret and not fully understand key verses in the bible and what their true meanings really are. Let me explain the first bible verse below.

Matthew 17:19-20 NLT: Afterward the disciples asked Jesus privately,"Why couldn't we cast out that demon?" Jesus told them," You don't have enough faith.

I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, move from here to there, and it would move. Nothing would be impossible."

Removing mountains, and rooting up of mountains, are phrases very generally used to signify the removing or conquering great difficulties or getting through perplexities.

So, many of the rabbins are termed rooters up of mountains, because they were dexterous (having or showing mental skill) in removing difficulties, solving cases of conscience, etc.

In this sense our Lord's words are to be understood. He that has faith will get through every difficulty and perplexity; mountains( great difficulties) shall become molehills or plains before him.

The saying is neither to be taken in its literal sense, nor is it hyperbolical: it is a proverbial form of speech, which no person could misunderstand, and with which no Christian ought to be puzzled.

But of course an atheist such as the king of the skeptics crr will undoubtedly misunderstand and misinterpret this particular verse in the Holy Bible but I hope now with this explanation he will see the

nothing more than parables or added text

matthew 21:21-22 says if you believe and pray"a mountain can be taken up and cast into the sea" it says nothing about "conquering great difficulties"

if sjd, rostos, billy graham and the pope got together and prayed to have a mountain cast into the sea it would not happen.

crr the problem you have is that you are taking everything in the bible literally...you can't do that.

Lots of times Jesus spoke in parables and His own disciples had a hard time understanding what he meant.

In summary Jesus Christ our Lord Savior is not a liar as claimed by the king of the skeptics crr...a believer in atheism.

crr it's obvious you have trouble comprehending what you read.

No wonder you have a hard time understanding the bible.

I suggest you take a class in sharpening your reading comprehension skills.

    Kitty,

you keep saying believers in God have no proof

where is your proof on these 3 questions

Life coming from non life = "Logic and Common Sense"

Universe coming from nothing = "Logic and Common Sense"

Complex cells forming by randomness and luck = "Logic and Common Sense"

really where did the whole universe come from?  it just magically appeared?  and whatever cause the universe to appear, where did that come from.

We can play this back and forth game until were both 100 years old, but truth is we really dont know which side is correct.

Like i have said over and over again, if am wrong and you are right, it didnt cost me one cent to believe that God exists

I addressed this in my post before this one.

Oh and if you are wrong, you have wasted your one and only life worrying about what happens after it ends. In fact, I can't fathom a higher price for something.

Care to try again? I won't bother pointing the things you believe in that simply defy logic because I will literally be typing for hours.

    Does possible mean "evidence"?

Removing mountains, and rooting up of mountains, are phrases very generally used to signify the removing or conquering great difficulties or getting through perplexities.

    crr notes:

nothing more than parables or added text

matthew 21:21-22 says if you believe and pray"a mountain can be taken up and cast into the sea" it says nothing about "conquering great difficulties"

if sjd, rostos, billy graham and the pope got together and prayed to have a mountain cast into the sea it would not happen.

Jesus said, "if your right hand causes you to sin, then cut it off".....

Once and for all, once and for all, do you think Jesus is asking every human to walk around with no right hand? Seriously, do you think that is what he asking us to do?

Another one "Jesus opens doors". Is Jesus a concierge ?

    Seriously, are you a troll?

What the? Do you think we spend every minute of our time worrying about the afterlife?

Maybe if everyone did and followed the commandments, the world will be a better place times 10000......

I am going to follow CRR's form of logic about how to read the bible...and apply it to real life....

I am going to go to the local library and i am going to read books in the poetry section, sci fi, autobiographies, science and drama sections all with the same "lenses" on.....

After all, because they are all written, they have to be read in the same lense apparenly...

Yep, Sci fi and the sciences should be read as if they are BOTH to be taken literally...oh , and poetry books should also be read this way......

    Seriously, seriously, seriously........
