Sports betting and the NFL took a groundbreaking step together Monday when FanDuel and the Denver Broncos reached agreement on the first officially-designated partnership between a sports betting entity and an NFL franchise. FanDuel will also serve as the official daily fantasy sports partner for the Broncos.
A news release from FanDuel stated that the agreement gives the company access to official Broncos marks and logos for FanDuel’s online sports betting and daily fantasy platforms. FanDuel will also gain access to marketing outlets, including in-stadium signage and radio, TV and digital advertising.
“With the NFL season just around the corner, partnering with an innovative organization like the Denver Broncos allows us to offer engaging fan experiences both inside and outside the stadium, and access to unique betting promotions and content,” FanDuel chief marketing officer Mike Raffensperger said in the release.
Broncos chief commercial officer Mac Freeman said FanDuel is a natural fit.
“The ways they smartly reach people through engaging and entertaining content is in line with the Broncos’ innovative thinking when connecting with our fans,” Freeman said. “With FanDuel’s successful launch into Colorado earlier in May, we believe Broncos fans will enjoy FanDuel’s trusted mobile sports betting and daily fantasy platforms.”
As Raffensperger alluded to, the partnership will provide unique promotions to sports bettors in Colorado, which opened its legal, regulated market on May 1. Among the offerings unveiled in conjunction with Monday’s announcement: new FanDuel customers can bet the Broncos +30 for their Week 1 home game against the Tennessee Titans.
Denver is currently a 1.5-point favorite in that game, the second half of a Monday Night Football doubleheader. With the promotion, bettors can wager up to $50 on the Broncos +30 — at even money.
