There is a nine game slate in the Association this Saturday with the All-Star Break looming near. Monique Vág breaks down the betting odds for the NBA schedule to help you make the day’s best wagers.
The New York Knicks are 1-point road favorites as they travel to Detroit to take on the Pistons who will be playing on no rest after falling 108-101 last night to Oklahoma City.
The Knicks have historically struggled in Detroit, losing eight straight contests there, and nine of the last 10 head-to-head meetings overall. To make matters worse, the Knicks average 104 points per game on the road. The Pistons on the other hand, despite struggling at times on offense, have averaged a respectable 111.5 on their home court. Take the Pistons on the moneyline.
The Dallas Mavericks will once again be without Luka Doncic for today's matchup versus the Charlotte Hornets. Even without Doncic, the Mavs are still 4.5-point road favorites.
The Hornets have really struggled with their shooting this season ranking dead last in points per game averaging just 100 per contest. Although they have not given up a ton of points, they have struggled to contain the center position. The Hornets give up a league high 17 boards per game to opposing centers. Look for a big night on the glass for Kristaps Porzingis who comes in logging 12 boards in three of his most recent four games. Bet Over his rebounding total of 9.5.
CAN'T STOP, WON'T STOP
The Toronto Raptors put their 13-game winning streak on the line as they play on no rest versus the Nets who will be without Kyrie Irving. Toronto also has a winning streak against the Nets, winning five straight games against Brooklyn at home and nine of the last 10 meetings overall.
Toronto has averaged the second highest points per game over their last three games averaging 121. Today, they host a Nets team who have also been successful on the offensive end as of late, averaging 118.3 over their last three. With both teams shooting well, expect a closely contested, higher scoring game. Bet Over the total of 218.
The Denver Nuggets are 3.5-point road favorites as they host the Phoenix Suns. Phoenix will be playing the second half of a back-to-back, but are coming off a huge 127-91 victory against the Rockets and matchup up well against the Suns. The Nuggets have won eight of the last 10 head-to-head meetings and four of their last five overall.
With the Nuggets holding their two most recent opponents - Blazers and Jazz under 100 points apiece, expect another solid defensive showing. The Under has cashed in six of the Suns' last nine games, and seven of their last eight at home. Bet Under the game total of 218.5.
STILL SHAKING OFF THE RUST
The Sacramento Kings play on the tail end of a back-to-back after defeating the Heat 105-97 at home last night. Tonight, they host the San Antonio Spurs who lost three straight, but have had a lot of success historically versus the Kings, winning 17 of their most recent 20 games in Sacramento.
LaMarcus Aldridge has been inconsistent over his last four games since returning from a two game injury. Throughout that stretch he's logged two games scoring less than 10 points on 30 and 40 percent shooting from the floor. The Kings have been one of the better teams at defending opposing centers allowing only 21.7 points per game, and 15.4 boards to the center position. Expect Aldridge's struggles to continue, and bet Under his points, rebounds, assists total of 28.5.
