The Breeders' Cup odds currently go through Whitney Stakes winner Sovereignty (+300), even after Knightsbridge's runaway triumph in the Pacific Classic.

Now the three-year-olds get to shine in Saturday's "Midsummer Derby," the Travers Stakes, at Saratoga. Golden Tempo is the 5-2 favorite, and I'm not trying to beat him my best free picks this weekend.

Let's take a look at the latest Breeders' Cup odds for 2026, with Keeneland Racecourse in Lexington, KY playing host on October 30-31.

Odds to win Breeders' Cup Classic 2026

Sovereignty +300 Whitney S. win proves he's not done yet.
Forever Young +400 Defending champ aging like fine wine, JCGC next.
Knightsbridge +800 Scary-good at his best, like in Pac Classic.
Magnitude +800 Whitney S. loss lone blemish in '26.
Baeza +1200 Biggest rival right now is starting gate.
Golden Tempo +1200 Silenced doubters in Belmont S.
Renegade +1200 Eye-catching Jim Dandy win has him back in the hunt.
Sea Strike +1600 Crushed Chief Wallabee in Curlin S, Travers next.
Commandment +2000 Has been unable to carry Gulfstream form north.
Antiquarian +3300 Not disgraced when third in Whitney S.

Breeders' Cup prep predictions: Travers Stakes

Saturday, Aug. 29 @ 6:35 p.m. ET, Saratoga Race 13

Golden Tempo is now 4-for-6 lifetime with three graded stakes to his credit, chief among them the Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes. His camp once again opted for patience, as they did when skipping the Preakness Stakes, and chose to train this son of Curlin up to the Travers Stakes off that Belmont score.

His bullet August 15 tune-up work suggests he won't be rusty under Jose Ortiz, who has the leg-up on the competition in the jockey standings at Saratoga this season, and the pace scenario on paper says he'll have plenty of pace to chase.

Pick: $20 win 9 (+250 at bet365)
