Following his first regular-season loss in the CFL, quarterback Davis Alexander and the Montreal Alouettes return home as heavy favorites to play the visiting Ottawa Redblacks on Sunday evening in Montreal.
My CFL picks do not expect Davis Alexander and the Alouettes to begin a losing streak.
Both teams are dealing with some injuries to important players in the receiving corps and defensive secondaries, so it will be interesting to look at how they plan to adjust in the Ottawa Redblacks vs. Montreal Alouettes predictions below.
Who will win Argonauts vs Roughriders?: Montreal -8.5 (-105)
The Montreal Alouettes are undefeated against the Ottawa Redblacks over the past three seasons, going 10-0 with an average margin of victory of 14.8 points.
Frankly, Montreal is a better team than they were a year ago when they went 3-0 against Ottawa with winning margins of 21, 20, and 11 points.
Ottawa has struggled to move the ball with new quarterback Jake Maier, averaging just 6.1 yards per pass attempt and completing only 59.5% of their passes under new Head Coach Ryan Dinwiddie.
Montreal should win going away.

Redblacks vs Alouettes total prediction: Over 55.5 (-115)
Through three games in 2026, the Alouettes have averaged 32 points per game with final scores totaling 57, 67, and 61.
Having lost receiver Charleston Rambo in the offseason and receivers Cole Spieker and Jerreth Sterns to injury this year, the Alouettes' passing attack has become extremely condensed, with both Tyson Philpot and Tyler Snead projected for a combined 54% target share in my model.
Both Philpot and Snead project to have massive games again versus an Ottawa Redblacks defense allowing 10.5 yards per pass attempt to opposing offenses in 2026.
Add to that the return of Montreal running back Stevie Scott III to the lineup, and the Als offense will be more potent than ever.
Ottawa has averaged just 22.5 points per game but has lost by enough to push the final totals to 50 and 68 points.
I expect the Ottawa offense will continue to struggle versus a solid Montreal defense, especially without top receiver Geno Lewis in the lineup, but the Montreal offense should do more than enough to push the total to Over 55.5 in this new era of CFL rules that are inflating scores.
Redblacks vs Alouettes same-game parlay
With the Montreal Alouettes' streak of double-digit wins in this series, along with the increased pace of play and scoring in the CFL in 2026, I fully expect Montreal to cover the -8.5 point spread in another high-scoring affair.
