We may be seeing a changing of the guard in the CFL West Division, and the underdog Edmonton Elks will get their chance to dethrone the league’s model franchise in the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in their own palace on Thursday night.
An Edmonton win would make them 3-0 for the first time since 2017, while a Bombers loss may send the city of Winnipeg into deeper despair than the Connor Hellebuyck trade rumors.
Week 4 is upon us, so let’s get into my Elks vs. Blue Bombers predictions and CFL picks.
Who will win Elks vs Blue Bombers: Elks +3 (-110)
The Edmonton Elks have been a preseason darling in win total futures in the CFL odds for four years now, with totals posted at 6.5 as fans expect a return to the franchise’s long history of championship teams. Unfortunately, the have started at 0-3, 0-9, 0-7, and 0-3 before posting their first win over the past four years.
Things have finally changed in 2026, as Edmonton has started 2-0 despite being +1.5-point underdogs to Ottawa and +2.5-point underdogs to Montreal.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers, on the other hand, needed a last-minute miracle to defeat currently winless Calgary in Week 1 before being beaten soundly at home by Hamilton.
Winnipeg is an aging team with defensive liabilities, while Edmonton has vastly improved on both sides of the ball over their past 10 games. I think the Edmonton moneyline is also in play.

Elks vs Blue Bombers best bet: Over 55.5 (-115)
The average closing total for CFL games in the 2025 season was 52.25, while the actual final score averaged 52.9 points. Through 10 games in the 2026 season, the average total points scored has been 59.
It’s a small sample size, but pace and scoring are well up this season despite terrible weather conditions in over a third of the games played so far that would normally dock offensive efficiency by about 5%.
Betting the Over will become a common trend until lines adjust accordingly to the new scoring and timing rules in the CFL.
Elks vs Blue Bombers same-game parlay
This is not the dominant Bombers defense from the height of their Grey Cup contending teams. The Elks should be able to run the ball at will, leading them to at least cover the spread, if not win outright.
The Elks and Bombers have averaged a combined 59 points per game in 2026, and until totals adjust for the new CFL scoring environment, I will continue to lean on Overs.

Elks vs Blue Bombers weather
The forecast is for a 30% risk of thunderstorms, but the winds are expected to stay low at 5-7mph, and the expected rain accumulation is minimal. Thunderstorms in Winnipeg always bring the risk of game delays, but the weather doesn’t look to be much of a factor on Thursday.
