The co-hosts might be favored in front of their home crowd, but Bosnia isn't coming to play defense. Expect an aggressive, chaotic pace from the whistle that leaves both backlines exposed—setting the stage perfectly for Canada's dynamic attackers to trade blows in a high-scoring thriller.

Canada begins its World Cup campaign as a slight -125 favorite on home soil in Toronto, but my Canada vs. Bosnia predictions focus on goals rather than a side.

Bosnia has seen both teams score in eight of its last nine matches, and its aggressive, high-pressing style should create opportunities at both ends against a Canadian squad that has scored in five of its last six home games.

Who will win Canada vs Bosnia: Canada (-125)

Canada enters the World Cup Group B opener as the deserved favorite, and I like the hosts to take all three points at BMO Field.

Bosnia and Herzegovina have been one of the most entertaining teams in qualifying, but their aggressive approach can also leave them vulnerable against the right opponent.

Rather than sitting deep and protecting their back line, Bosnia like to press high up the pitch and push their full-backs into the attack, creating opportunities going forward while often leaving space behind. That's a dangerous recipe against a Canadian side built around pace and direct play.

What really sold me on Canada was the matchup itself. Bosnia defend aggressively and man-to-man across the pitch, which should create transition opportunities for the hosts. The World Cup odds also believe Canada will benefit from playing at home, where it has scored in five of its last six matches, and should be backed by a raucous BMO Field crowd.

Bosnia have enough attacking quality to make life uncomfortable, but Canada is the side I trust more to capitalize on the space this matchup is likely to create. This pick aligns with our World Cup AI predictions for Canada's tournament opener.

Playable up to -140.

Canada vs Bosnia Over/Under pick: Over 2.5 (+125)

Bosnia and Herzegovina have seen eight of their last nine matches cash the both teams to score ticket, and their style of play rarely lends itself to low-scoring affairs.

What really pushed me toward the Over was watching both teams recently. Canada created chances throughout its warm-up fixtures, but I also noticed defensive lapses that left space in behind. Those mistakes weren't punished, but against a stronger opponent, they may not be so lucky.

On the other side, Bosnia impressed me against Italy. I expected a direct, route-one attack built around Edin Dzeko, but they were far more comfortable progressing the ball through midfield and attacking wide areas than I anticipated. Dzeko remains the focal point, but Bosnia have enough quality around him to create problems both through the air and on the ground.

With Canada expected to push for three points and Bosnia rarely involved in conservative matches, this game has all the ingredients for three or more goals.

Playable up to +115.

Canada vs Bosnia goal scorer pick

Jonathan David (+180)

Jonathan David is the centerpiece of Canada's attack and offers excellent value at +203 to score anytime. The Juventus striker is Canada's all-time leading scorer, takes penalty duties, and has been involved in more than a third of the country's goals across its last two major tournaments.

The matchup is favorable as well. Bosnia's aggressive defensive approach often leaves space behind the back line, and David has the versatility to exploit it. Whether he's making runs in behind, drifting into pockets of space, or linking play around the penalty area, he presents problems that Bosnia's defense has struggled to handle.

If Canada is going to open its World Cup campaign with three points, there's a good chance David plays a starring role. At better than 2/1 odds, he's my favorite Canadian goalscorer bet on the board.

 Top Pick

Canada vs Bosnia bonus pick: Both teams to score (+110)

Much of the handicap above points toward goals at both ends. Bosnia has seen both teams score in eight of its last nine matches, while Canada's recent defensive performances have left room for concern.

With Bosnia's aggressive style creating chances for both sides, BTTS offers another way to back what should be an open contest as both teams look for a leg up in the World Cup bracket.
