The Washington Mystics have had an extended break to prep for their current four-game road trip, which starts against the Indiana Fever tonight.

Washington came very close to starting the season 2-0 but fell in overtime to the New York Liberty last Sunday.

Second-year guard Sonia Citron didn’t have the best showing in that loss, but my Mystics vs. Fever predictions don’t discount her efforts, and our WNBA picks expect Citron to top her scoring prop on Friday, May 15.

Mystics vs Fever prediction

Mystics vs Fever best bet: Sonia Citron Over 16.5 points (-120)

Sonia Citron topped her points prop in each of the first two games, but Sunday’s 17-point performance left a lot to be desired.

The Washington Mystics' guard finished just 4-for-12 from the field but made up for it by going 9-for-10 from the foul line. That came on the heels of a season-opening 26 points versus Toronto.

Given the Indiana Fever’s insane pace and sky-high foul rate (24.5 personal fouls per game, resulting in 24.5 opponent free-throw attempts), Citron should benefit from extra shot volume and spend plenty of time at the free-throw line.

She had success against the Fever in 2025, averaging 16.0 points per game over four matchups. Projections have her pegged for 17+ tonight.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Indiana has been shredded by star guards through two games, allowing 20 points to Paige Bueckers and 25 points to Kelsey Plum. The Fever give up 55.8 ppg to the guard position overall — second-worst in the WNBA.

Caitlin Clark pick: Under 8.5 assists (-115)

Caitlin Clark dished out nine assists in Indiana’s win over Los Angeles on Wednesday, with the Fever firing at almost 50% from the floor against a bad L.A. defense.

The Mystics are a tougher test for Clark & Co., especially with five days to game plan for stopping Indiana’s up-tempo attack. The Mystics run a much more methodical pace overall and don’t want to run with the Fever.

Washington has also done a good job plugging up the passing lanes and preventing playmaking, giving up an assist on just 58% of their opponents’ made field goals.

Meanwhile, Indiana head coach Stephanie White has told the media she needs to be careful with how many minutes Caitlin Clark plays early on after she missed most of the 2025 season due to injury. The Fever are sizable home chalk tonight, and if they build a lead, White could pull Clark with Seattle coming to town on Sunday.

Projections sit short of nine dimes from CC.

Mystics vs Fever same-game parlay

Washington has had a long time to practice and prep for Indiana and showed it could trade shots with the WNBA elite in an OT loss to the Liberty last weekend. I like the Mystics to keep this closer than oddsmakers expect.

Citron has topped her points prop in each of the first two outings, even with a poor shooting night against New York. The Mystics guard burned the Fever last year and should score plenty of points from the stripe against an overly aggressive Indiana defense.

The Mystics won’t let the Fever dictate the pace, and Washington’s ball pressure and ability to jump passing lanes should slow the game down and make it tough for Clark to create.

Mystics vs Fever SGP

  • Mystics +8
  • Sonia Citron Over 16.5 points
  • Caitlin Clark Under 8.5 assists

Mystics vs Fever first basket scorer: Kiki Irafen (+650)

Shakira Austin should win the tip and give Washington the first crack at the basket.

Kiki Irafen sits second on the team in usage and has started the season shooting well, connecting at a 54.5% clip through the first two games of 2026.
