Official game rules: How to play

To avoid "referee" disputes mid-game, we recommend establishing these simple rules before kickoff:

  1. Distribution: Give each guest one card and a marker (pens work, but stickers or candy like M&Ms are better for re-using cards). If you have more guests than cards, have people team up and compete against other duos or trios.

  2. The Center Square: Every player gets the center square – the "Free Space" – for free.

  3. Verification: Designate a "Judge" to confirm when an event happens, or to adjudicate outcomes like the length of the national anthem.

  4. Winning: The first person to complete a row – horizontally, vertically, or diagonally – shouts “BINGO!”

Party variations & prize ideas

If you want to raise the stakes, try these common variations:

  • The "Blackout": Instead of a single line, the game continues until someone fills their entire card. This usually lasts until late in the 4th quarter.

  • Extra free squares: At the end of every scoring play, ask a Super Bowl trivia question; the correct respondent earns an additional free square of his or her choice.

  • Prize pool: Have everyone chip in $5 toward a winner-take-all pot, or offer themed prizes like a case of beer, an Uber Eats gift card, or a team hat.
