The Panthers have been much better since Matthew Tkachuk joined the lineup, ranking 5th in expected goal share (54.84%) over 12 games.
They are consistently controlling the run of play and generating more chances than they give up. That trend should continue against the Islanders, who slot 21st in xGF% over the same period.
Ilya Sorokin won’t be available to start after getting the nod Saturday, which means the Islanders can’t rely on elite goaltending to level the playing field. That’ll make it difficult for them to beat the Panthers.

He’s been extremely consistent in these spots. Only once since November 1st has McTavish gone back-to-back games without a point against a non Top-10 defense – never at home.
The Flames rank 21st in goals allowed per 60 minutes on the road and are in the latter half of a back-to-back. This is a good spot for McTavish to make noise.
