About the Golden State Warriors

Last Updated: March 14, 2023

This was not the season most observers expected of the defending NBA Champions, but the Golden State Warriors are just three games over .500 in mid-March and locked in a constant struggle with half-a-dozen Western Conference playoff bubble teams.

Last week, the Warriors lost three straight to Western-conference conference opponents on a short road trip, falling to the L.A. Lakers, Oklahoma City Thunder, and by 21 points to the Memphis Grizzlies without Ja Morant. The Warriors own the third-worst road record in the NBA on Tuesday at 7-26. Still, they are an entirely different team on their home court, beating the Bucks without Giannis Antetokounmpo on Saturday and the Suns without Kevin Durant on Monday night, allowing the Warriors to slip back up to fifth place in the West.

Unfortunately, the Warriors must pack their bags again and hit the road. On Wednesday night, they face the L.A. Clippers at Staples Center. With both teams sporting a 36-33 record, the winner will own the five-seed outright. On Friday, the Warriors switch coasts, land in Atlanta to face the Hawks, and finish their weekend in Memphis for another rematch against the Grizzlies.

The Warriors are still dealing with injuries. Defensive specialist Gary Payton II remains out rehabbing a thigh injury, and Andrew Wiggins is away from the team indefinitely dealing with a personal matter. Wiggins and Payton were big parts of the Warriors' finals run last year, and the Dubs undoubtedly want them back to close the season.

All that said, NBA oddsmakers haven’t been paying too much mind to the Warriors' record or their place in the standings. Bettors can find the Warriors' odds to win the NBA Finals at +1,000 or shorter at some books, with only Denver and Phoenix ahead of them in the West.
