Kansas City’s bats have been ice cold, and while Seth Lugo has struggled this season, I am not expecting the Cubs to completely explode offensively. Chicago is certainly capable of putting up eight or more runs on any given night, but I expect a more controlled offensive performance here. After last night’s higher scoring affair, I’m looking for both sides to settle in and produce a lower scoring game.

I am expecting plenty of offense tonight in San Francisco, with both the Giants and Tigers entering the matchup swinging hot bats. The Giants draw Jackson Jobe in his season debut, and several of their hitters have started to heat up against right handed pitching. Rafael Devers and Jung Hoo Lee have been especially important pieces of the offense as of late. On the other side, Detroit has been scorching over its last 12 games, posting a 150 wRC+, .383 wOBA and .879 OPS. While the weather could create some challenges, I believe the momentum from both offenses will outweigh the conditions.

I am backing the San Francisco Giants as a slight home underdog against the Detroit Tigers. Detroit sends right hander Jackson Jobe to the mound for his season debut after he posted a 4.22 ERA and 1.49 WHIP across 10 starts in 2025. Jobe also carries a poor matchup rating on Batters-Box, along with poor matchup marks in ISO and strikeout rate. On the other side, Landen Roupp has been significantly better at home, posting a 2.97 xERA and 1.17 WHIP while allowing just 22% hard contact and a 3% barrel rate. Despite their sub-100 wRC+, San Francisco's bats have been heating up against right handed pitching.

Moneyline
This is the most common and easiest wager for a bettor to make when it comes to MLB picks. Basically, to win an MLB moneyline pick, you just have to choose which team will win the game.
It's simple: if you bet the White Sox moneyline over the Red Sox and Chicago wins, you win your bet.
Run line
The run line is another name for a point spread that you may be more familiar with in NBA and NFL betting. A point spread varies in the NFL and NBA from as little as 0.5 points up to double-digit spreads. A baseball run line is almost always a 1.5-point spread.
The favorite will be -1.5 while the underdog will be +1.5. At the end of the game, if you take away 1.5 runs from the favorite or add 1.5 runs to the underdog and they end up winning the game, you win your MLB pick against the spread.
Totals (Over/Under)
Another common wager is to bet on the total in baseball, which is a bet on the total runs scored in the baseball game. You are simply choosing whether the final score will be Over or Under that total. Betting the Over/Under on a matchup is a great way to get started in MLB score predictions.
