We're fading a talented pitcher in Nolan McLean, who has electric stuff and a 10.60 K/9 this season, but as always, it's about price and matchup. This is a difficult spot for him. Cleveland is expected to stack the lineup with eight left-handed bats, neutralizing McLean's biggest weapon. His hard sweeping slider is his go-to putaway pitch, but against lefties it breaks into the barrel instead of away from it. The Guardians also pair that platoon advantage with a disciplined approach at the plate. They work deep counts, rarely chase, and have the profile to drive up McLean's pitch count and force an early exit. Polymarket has Cleveland as a 54-cent favorite, but I make the Guardians closer to a 59-cent favorite, which is why I'm hitting the button.

The Over 7.5 has a path through Cleveland’s improved offense and late-game Mets vulnerability. The Guardians have been swinging it well recently, and New York only needs to chip in against a Cleveland bullpen that has struggled. With McLean shaky and Griffin facing a dangerous lineup, eight runs is reachable.

Okamoto's hitting profile perfectly matches up well against Imanaga’s stuff. The Cubs starter throws a heavy dose of the fastball and gets barreled up at a 10.4% rate. The Jays third baseman barrels the ball better than anyone in the Blue Jays lineup with a 13.5% barrel rate, while owning a 63.2% hard hit rate against the four-seamer.

Wilyer Abreu is in an excellent position to do damage against Luis Castillo in the right hander's Chicago White Sox debut. Abreu carries an elite Batters-Box rating, covering nearly 91% of Castillo's pitch mix, while Castillo owns the third worst pitcher rating in the current Batters-Box dataset. The Red Sox outfielder has been swinging a hot bat, posting a .667 SLG, 1.008 OPS and 173 wRC+ over his last 10 games. Castillo has also been extremely vulnerable to left handed hitters, allowing loud contact and plenty of elevated balls. At +250 or better, Abreu is worth backing to leave the yard.

Jac Caglianone draws one of the best home run matchups on Thursday's slate against Bailey Ober. The Royals slugger owns an elite Batters-Box rating, covering nearly 100% of Ober's pitch repertoire, and has homered in nearly 30% of his 21 elite rated games this season. Ober has struggled against left handed hitters on the road, allowing a .322 batting average, .586 SLG and .407 wOBA while giving up plenty of elevated contact. Although Caglianone has cooled off recently, his expected batting average points toward positive regression. At +250 or better, the price is worth backing.

San Francisco is just the offense to kick-start the regression, too. The Giants are pacing the majors in wOBA and fourth in xwOBA over the past 30 days, after all.

This is the most common and easiest wager for a bettor to make when it comes to MLB picks. Basically, to win an MLB moneyline pick, you just have to choose which team will win the game.
It's simple: if you bet the White Sox moneyline over the Red Sox and Chicago wins, you win your bet.
The run line is another name for a point spread that you may be more familiar with in NBA and NFL betting. A point spread varies in the NFL and NBA from as little as 0.5 points up to double-digit spreads. A baseball run line is almost always a 1.5-point spread.
The favorite will be -1.5 while the underdog will be +1.5. At the end of the game, if you take away 1.5 runs from the favorite or add 1.5 runs to the underdog and they end up winning the game, you win your MLB pick against the spread.
Another common wager is to bet on the total in baseball, which is a bet on the total runs scored in the baseball game. You are simply choosing whether the final score will be Over or Under that total. Betting the Over/Under on a matchup is a great way to get started in MLB score predictions.
A new and emerging MLB betting market is the NRFI/YRFI bet. These are quick-hitters in which you make a wager on the O/U total of the first inning, typically set at 0.5 runs. Thus, the bet is coined as No Run First Inning or Yes Run First Inning. No need to wait a couple of hours to cash a bet when it could be done in 20 minutes or less.
The above options, moneyline, run line, and Over/Under, can also be placed on the first five innings of a game rather than the full game. Many experienced bettors will use this approach because, typically, this will take bullpens out of the equation and make your job researching the game easier. After all, you can just focus on the starting pitchers.
If you want to combine multiple games into one mega wager, you may consider making a parlay bet. A parlay is when you pick two or more MLB games on one single betting ticket, which will increase the payout of your bet.
