We’ve got a huge clash this Saturday between Ukraine and England in Group C of the EURO 2024 Qualifiers. England lead Group C, but Ukraine currently sit in second place ahead of Italy. A win over England here would give Ukraine hope of reaching the European Championships in Germany next summer.
Will they be able to turn over an England team who have won all four games while scoring 15 times and allowing just one goal? Don’t miss our Ukraine vs England picks and predictions for September 9.

Ukraine vs England picks and predictions
Saturday’s key game for Euro 2024 qualifying sees Ukraine hosting England in a Group C clash. The game will take place in the Polish city of Wroclaw, with the Ukrainians currently displaced because of the war. The city has a huge amount of Ukrainians living in it, and the game is sold out and set to play it’s part in creating a hostile atmosphere for Gareth Southgate’s England team.
England currently sit on top of Group C, winning all four of their games, with Ukraine currently in second, with six points after three games. The table doesn’t tell a full picture, with England having played four games, double that of third place Italy, who have three points from two matches. One thing that can be fairly certain is that England really should qualify now. However, it’s far from certain for Ukraine, which is why they’ll be so keen to claim something from this game.
Standing in the way of Ukraine is England striker Harry Kane. The England captain is the subject of our best bet for this game and comes into it in great form. Kane’s scored 58 times in 84 caps for England, making him his nation’s all-time leading goal scorer. His ability in front of goal is one of the reasons that German champions Bayern Munich spent big money this summer to lure him to Bavaria.
The move to Bayern Munich was a no-brainer for Kane, and he now finally has a chance to win silverware, something that’s been a struggle throughout his club career. Since arriving in Germany he’s shown his class and has almost immediately clicked with his new teammates. He’s scored three goals in three Bundesliga games. He’s been the main man for England during this qualification window too, scoring five of his team’s 15 goals in the four matches so far.
Given his lethal finishing and the great form that Kane finds himself in, we’re backing him to score in this game against the Ukrainians, just as he did earlier this year when he opened the scoring in a 2-0 victory at Wembley.
Ukraine are a solid team, but they’ve still allowed four goals in three games. Given that Kane scored last time he faced them, it gives us a clear vision about how he could find the back of the net on Saturday.
My best bet: Harry Kane to score (-122 at TonyBet)

Ukraine vs England same-game parlay
This isn’t the biggest same-game parlay you’ll ever see, but at +275 it offers a reasonable price on three legs that all should land in this game.
Firstly, we’ll be doing our customary trick of adding our best bet to the SGP, so we’ll have Harry Kane to score. You’ve already read the reasons above, but Harry Kane is England’s greatest goal scorer, he’s in a rich vein of form for his club Bayern Munich, and scored against this same team earlier in 2023.
Given England’s record of four wins from four, it won’t be a shock to hear that I’m also backing England to win. There are still some question marks over this England squad, and they are still arguably weaker than they’d like in the central defensive position, but they have quality throughout the squad. They’ve been hugely effective in qualification games under Gareth Southgate, so we can trust them winning here.
Finally, we’re going for Under four goals. I was tempted to go Under three, which would return far better odds, but I think there’s a slim chance that we see three goals, but I really can’t see four goals happening. England won the last game 2-0 on home soil, and Ukraine have been solid throughout qualifying, scoring four but also conceding four. This feels like a game England win 2-0, 2-1 or 3-0, and I can’t see the scoring going any higher.

Ukraine vs England side and Over/Under analysis
If you want to back England on the moneyline you’ll be getting odds of -263, and although I’m confident that they win, I simply can’t recommend betting on a moneyline at that price. There are no certainties in international soccer, and it wouldn’t be a smart recommendation. I’m also going nowhere near Ukraine, even at +790, or the draw at +360.
The total goals line has Over 2.5 as a slight favorite at -118, with the Under at -105. I can’t really pick a side here, so I’d probably avoid. I think there are smarter and more interesting ways to bet this game with player props, such as Harry Kane to score, or potentially looking at cards when the team lineups are released before kickoff.
