We have just one week left before the MLS season goes on hiatus for the World Cup, and teams are trying to pick up as many points as they can before some of their players head off for international duty.
The penultimate week of the schedule before the two-month break is headlined by a Hudson River Derby between the two clubs from New York City.

CF Montreal vs
Chicago Fire
Pick: Chicago Fire (+137)
The Fire looked much more like they have for long stretches of the season, getting a 3-1 win over DC United on Wednesday. Montreal looks improved as well, but the Fire dominated them in a 3-0 win in February behind their high pressure.
That Fire pressure will lead them to a win over a Montreal side that has committed five errors leading to goals.
Charlotte FC vs.
Toronto FC: Draw (+280)
Pick: Draw (+280)
Toronto got an opportunity to rest on Wednesday, and now hits the road for the first time since March 8th. They’re winless in their last seven, while Charlotte has taken just one point from their last five matches. I don’t trust either team to get a win, making the draw’s price quite attractive.
DC United vs.
St. Louis City
Pick: Draw (+240)
DC United looked dangerous at times against Chicago but fell 3-1, ending a five-match unbeaten run. They’ll get back to positive results against a St. Louis side that, while having won two straight in MLS, has scored five goals fewer than expected—the worst mark in the league.

New England Revolution vs
Minnesota United
Pick: New England (+110)
New England’s seven-match unbeaten streak was quickly put to the sword by Nashville, who scored twice before the break in a dominant 3-0 win.
They desperately missed Luca Langoni’s playmaking, but he should be back as they face a Minnesota side that is suddenly struggling to create scoring chances and has lost James Rodriquez.

Orlando City vs
Atlanta United
Pick: Orlando City (+100)
This is a heated rivalry, one where the home team has won four of the last five meetings. Atlanta comes in with a week off and a rest advantage, but the Lions have one of the hottest players in MLS in Martin Ojeda.
Rotation could be an issue to watch for if you’re betting this match, as Orlando hosts Atlanta again on Tuesday night in the US Open Cup.

Philadelphia Union vs
Columbus Crew
Pick: Columbus Crew (+187)
The Union looked like they might be figuring things out in April. However, three defeats and a draw over their last four sees them on pace for the worst point total in MLS history.
The Crew has lost three straight, but those came against more dynamic offenses. Columbus beat them 2-0 a few weeks ago, and I’ll back the Crew again to deny Philly its first home win of the season.

New York Red Bulls vs
New York FC
Pick: New York City (+155)
Both teams come into the Hudson River Derby having won two straight, but the Red Bulls are still shaky at the back. NYCFC has kept two consecutive clean sheets, and Nicolas Fernandez is playing well up top.
Look for a repeat of the NYCFC road win two weeks ago in the US Open Cup.

Austin FC vs
Sporting Kansas City
Pick: Draw (+360)
There’s no way I’m backing Austin at -200 odds. Yes, they’re definitely the better team—but they also just got housed 5-0 at San Diego, and have just two wins in 12 matches in all competitions.
Sporting KC’s move to a 4-4-2 against the Galaxy made them much more dangerous on the counter-attack. The draw presents value at this price.

Houston Dynamo vs
Vancouver Whitecaps
Pick: Vancouver Whitecaps (-111)
Houston’s defensive woes reared their ugly head once again on Wednesday night, as RSL scored three goals on just 0.95 xG.
Seb Berhalter is in fine form for Vancouver and will cause serious problems for a Dynamo side struggling to get a grip in the middle of the pitch.

Seattle Sounders vs
LA Galaxy
Pick: Seattle Sounders (-141)
Nothing shows how unpredictable betting on MLS can be than the Galaxy getting punked by Sporting KC on Wednesday.
Now they travel to the northwest to face a Seattle squad that looked extremely impressive against San Jose, and that hasn’t lost at home to the Galaxy since 2016.

Real Salt Lake vs
Colorado Rapids
Pick: Real Salt Lake (-161)
Colorado managed just two shots on target in their 1-0 win over Minnesota and has tested the keeper just 11 times in the last five matches.
They’ve regressed after heavily outperforming their xG to start the season, and their high press won’t create chances against an RSL side built to handle it. RSL will get their seventh home win in eight this season.

San Diego FC vs
FC Cincinnati
Pick: San Diego (-108)
San Diego’s 5-0 win on Wednesday saw them thump Austin and gain quite a bit of their confidence back.
Now they host a Cincinnati side that has shipped five goals to Miami, the seventh time in 11 matches across all competitions in which they’ve conceded at least three goals. A cross-country trip won’t do them any favors.

San Jose Earthquakes vs
FC Dallas
Pick: San Jose Earthquakes (-133)
There’s no shame in losing at Lumen Field, although San Jose has now picked up just two points from their last three matches. That said, this Dallas defense continues to leak bad goals after coughing up three on just 0.67 xG to Vancouver.
Two of Seattle’s goals came from high-pressure turnovers, and that’s not something Dallas forces. I’ll back the Earthquakes to get back in the win column.

Inter Miami vs
Portland Timbers
Pick: Inter Miami (-278)
I’m holding my nose on this one, as Inter Miami has burned us repeatedly as heavy favorites. That said, they have to pick up that first win in their new stadium—and this is a prime chance to do so.
Portland’s allowed the third-most shots on target in MLS, while no side has tested the keeper more than the Herons. I hate the juice, but it’s the only pick here.
Nashville FC vs
Los Angeles FC
Pick: Nashville (+105)
Nothing can stop Nashville right now. Not rotation, not fatigue, and not the absence of Sam Surridge. I’m a huge fan of plus-odds for them at home against an LAFC side that is getting nothing from Heung-min Son and getting overrun in the midfield.
