Expert MLS moneyline picks
Toronto FC vs CF Montreal pick: Draw
These clubs have drawn in three of the last four meetings in all competitions, and I'm backing the same result.
Toronto's three-match losing skid includes defeats to Nashville and St. Louis, nothing to be ashamed of. However, the absence of Djordje Mihailovic is hampering the attack, which could allow their rivals to nick a point on the road.
Chicago Fire vs New York City FC pick: Chicago
The Fire returned to action on Tuesday and picked up an impressive 3-1 win at home over Vancouver, with Robert Lewandowski supplying an assist off the bench.
They'll dispatch an NYCFC side with just seven points from their last nine matches as injury issues continue to pile up.
Atlanta United FC vs FC Cincinnati pick: Draw
Give credit to this Atlanta side, which yet again fought back for a 2-2 draw at home against NYCFC. But that's what they often do: fight back rather than hold a lead, which is why I'm backing their fourth draw in six matches.
Seeing as Cincinnati has just two points from their last five outings and sit tied with the final playoff teams in the East, I think they'd be satisfied with an important point on the road.
Charlotte FC vs FC Dallas pick: Dallas
Charlotte will be without the suspended Tim Ream, a problem for a back line that has conceded 6.82 xG over the last three matches.
Dallas has 14 points from their last six matches and are playing better at the moment, and their 24 away points this season are second-most behind only Inter Miami.
Inter Miami CF vs DC United pick: Draw
Inter Miami's probability of 70% is too high, and it seems like every time they've been priced in that spot, they've failed to deliver.
Add in Lionel Messi's flight back to the States after a very emotional international sendoff, and this is a spot where I'm not willing to back that kind of juice.
That's why I'm backing a draw against a DC United side with three draws and a win in their last five — with their sole defeat coming to Charlotte in a match where they somehow failed to win despite a 3.40 to 0.94 xG advantage.
New England Revolution vs Seattle Sounders FC pick: Draw
Don't look now, but the Sounders are getting larger in the rearview mirror. Three wins in a row and eight unbeaten have them suddenly in a playoff spot.
New England lost 3-0 to RSL last time out with numerous key players away on international duty, but they had claimed 16 points of a possible 21 prior to that. This should be a great match with the two sides sharing the spoils.
New York Red Bulls vs San Diego FC pick: New York Red Bulls
This is a terrific probability for a home side that is in better form. The Red Bulls lost 3-0 last time out to St. Louis but were missing multiple key players in the early part of the international window, including forward Julian Hall.
San Diego has conceded 13 goals in their last four matches, and have taken just two points from their last four away fixtures.
Orlando City SC vs Columbus Crew pick: Orlando City
This is a great probability for Orlando City playing at home. The break came at a terrific time, as Antoine Griezmann got some much-needed rest.
OCSC has won three straight matches at home, and will avenge their US Open Cup defeat to Columbus just a few weeks ago.
Philadelphia Union vs Real Salt Lake pick: Philadelphia Union
Typically I designate a pick with a probability this high as a non-play, but this is the rare occasion where the juice is worth the squeeze. Cavan Sullivan is in red-hot form and looked great during his international debut with the USMNT.
RSL are limping to the finish line with a laundry list of injuries, and while they pulled off the 3-0 stunner at home over New England, I'm not looking for them to sniff a result in Philly.
Austin FC vs Nashville SC pick: Draw
Nashville's a great team, but they've taken just two points from their last three road fixtures. Austin is unbeaten in their last six matches, with four draws in that span — three of which came via late comebacks.
They refuse to concede a match, and that spirit will see them pick up another point as they make a late playoff push.
Sporting Kansas City vs Portland Timbers pick: Sporting KC
I can't believe I'm about to do this, but I'm backing Sporting to prevail.
They've scored 13 goals in their last five matches and have two wins in that span. The Timbers are on a three-match losing skid and have one of the worst defenses in the league. There's value on the home side here.
Minnesota United FC vs Houston Dynamo pick: Draw
I'm backing the road underdog here. Minnesota is riding a five-match losing streak and has little left to play for. Houston has just one win in its last seven matches but has earned points in four of those contests.
The visitors have also collected 17 points from 13 away matches, the fifth-most in the Western Conference.
Colorado Rapids vs San Jose Earthquakes pick: San Jose
You're going to give me 26% probability for the better side, facing a Colorado team missing its starting GK and winning just one of their last six matches in all competitions? Yeah, sign me up.
San Jose is unbeaten in seven, and has averaged 1.84 points per match away from home, which is second behind only Inter Miami.
Los Angeles FC vs Vancouver Whitecaps FC pick: Draw
I'm not sure what's going on with Vancouver's back line, as they've conceded six goals over the last two matches.
That said, LAFC are likely to see Heung-Min Son coming off the bench after his flight back on Wednesday, and they've claimed just one win in their last 10 in the league.
This is a spot where I don't trust either side to get the win, and 26% for the draw is a strong play.
St. Louis CITY SC vs LA Galaxy pick: St. Louis CITY
The Galaxy were in solid form before the break, but with Chucky Lozano out and Joseph Paintsil likely limited to a brief appearance, they'll have a tough time snapping St. Louis' 19-match unbeaten run across all competitions.
As far as I'm concerned, the juice is worth the squeeze in this spot.
