Who will win Arsenal vs Man City: Arsenal moneyline
Kalshi probability: 38%
It’s a new era for Man City with Enzo Maresca taking charge of his first competitive game following the departure of Pep Guardiola. While this is a piece of silverware that both teams want to win, the World Cup will cast a long shadow over this game, with a number of players on both teams having only just returned to training.
We’ve not seen enough from City yet to have any faith in how they’ll perform with Maresca, although as part of the Guardiola coaching tree, and given how he played when in charge of Chelsea, we’ll likely see a style similar to what Guardiola offered.
City’s big issue is that two of their key players won’t be starting. Erling Haaland has just returned to the team and will most likely be on the bench, while Rodri is out with a back injury. Expect plenty of possession but with little output as Omar Marmoush will be tasked with being the frontman.
Arsenal feel like the most coherent of the the two teams and welcome back the core of their title-winning squad, as well as new signing Bruno Guimaraes, with the former Newcastle man set for his first full start.
Mikel Arteta’s defense-first style should work well in this game, so expect a low-scoring win.
TOP PICK
Arsenal vs Man City Over/Under pick: Under 2.5
Kalshi probability: 52%
I think Arsenal offer the value to win, but it’s Under 2.5 goals that I prefer. We’ve covered City missing their two star players, but this is a team who are learning and adapting to a new manager and this methods, and that will take time.
Add in the fact that Arsenal won’t be starting with the best XI, and this game is poised to have a slow start and be low-scoring. None of Martin Zubimendi, Declan Rice, and Bukayo Saka have played even one second of preseason, and its unlikely Arteta would risk them from the start.
Add in injuries to Jurrien Timber and William Saliba, and it’s a team that aren’t used to playing alongside each other. That could mean Myles Lewis-Skelly in midfield and new arrival Christos Tzolis getting the nod too, playing as a forward.
With kickoff seeing two teams who aren’t totally familiar with each other after a long World Cup, it’s a fair assumption that things won’t quite be at the level we usually see for this curtain-raiser.
