Our best NHL player props for Monday, December 22
Take a look at our best bets and expert analysis below.
Prop #1: Chandler Stephenson Over 0.5 goals
The Anaheim Ducks host the Seattle Kraken to kick off the late portion of Monday’s NHL slate. Seattle’s Chandler Stephenson has been on fire, scoring in each of his past four games.
This success is likely to continue against Anaheim, a team that has struggled defensively this year. Entering this matchup, the Ducks rank last in the league in expected goals against per 60 minutes (xGA/60).
Two of Stephenson’s past four goals have come on the power play, which is another way to beat Anaheim. This season, the Ducks rank 23rd in penalty minutes taken per game and 28th in penalty kill percentage.

Prop #2: Kevin Fiala Over 0.5 goals
You can’t talk about poor defenses without bringing up the Columbus Blue Jackets, who travel to Los Angeles to take on the Kings in the other late-window game Monday. Right alongside Anaheim, the Blue Jackets rank second to last in xGA/60.
Not only do the Jackets surrender high-danger scoring chances at a high rate, but they also struggle on special teams. Entering this contest, Columbus ranks 30th in penalty kill percentage.
That bodes well for Los Angeles’ Kevin Fiala, who has seen a quarter of his goals this season come on the man advantage.

Prop #3: Adrian Kempe Over 0.5 goals
Sticking with the same game, Adrian Kempe is another Kings forward to consider backing. Kempe leads Los Angeles in goals this year and is coming off a particularly impressive two-goal performance against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
He has now scored six goals over his past 10 games, and this strong stretch is likely to continue against the defensively poor Blue Jackets. Meanwhile, goaltender Jet Greaves is slated to start for Columbus.
Greaves has allowed three goals in each of his past three starts, posting a 1-2 record with an .886 SV% over that stretch.
