The Panthers are surging at the right time while pushing for the playoffs, and the Red Wings have been stumbling. Find out why both of those trends will continue in our NHL betting picks.

The Florida Panthers kick off a quick two-game road trip against the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena in a key Eastern Conference clash on Monday.

The Panthers enter with some nice momentum, including a 4-2 victory last time out against the New Jersey Devils on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Red Wings have been struggling through a power outage lately, dropping two straight games while scoring just one goal in each setback.

This is the third and final meeting of the regular season between the two squads. The Panthers picked up a 5-1 win on December 8 in Sunrise before posting a 3-2 road victory on January 6.

Can the Panthers complete the regular-season sweep? Or will the Red Wings halt their skid and pick up some much-needed points?

We’ll discuss in our free NHL betting picks for Panthers vs. Red Wings.

Panthers vs Red Wings picks and predictions

The Florida Panthers have picked up points in six consecutive games, going 5-0-1 during that span. Florida has scored four-plus goals in each of the past four outings, and three-plus in nine of the team's last 12 games.

The Panthers have moved to within just one point of the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference, and three points back of the New York Islanders for the first wild-card spot with one game in hand.

Meanwhile, the Detroit Red Wings are technically still in the postseason race while sitting No. 13 in the Eastern Conference standings, nine points out of the final wild-card spot with 14 games remaining.

Detroit is in a nosedive lately though, and the club's postseason outlook is rather bleak. The Red Wings are just 2-8-1 in their past 11 games, picking up only five points out of an available 22. If Detroit misses the playoffs, it will look back at this key stretch and wonder what could’ve been.

The Panthers are playing well lately, and they've owned the Red Wings both in the Sunshine State and in the Motor City. Florida has won during 18 of the past 22 trips to Detroit while going 23-6 across the past 29 meetings. Additionally, the favorite is 21-6 in the last 27 meetings between these teams.

As such, look for the Panthers to continue their ascent in the standings, moving closer to a wild-card position while keeping the Red Wings down.

Since the Panthers on the money line are quite expensive on the road, costing nearly two times your potential return, look to the puck line instead for a much better value at plus money.

My best bet: Panthers -1.5 (+125 at BetMGM)

Panthers vs Red Wings spread analysis

The Panthers have won their past two games by a combined score of 13-7, cashing on the puck line as the favorite in each outing.

Florida is 5-1 in its past six games as the favorite. But prior to the two-game winning run, Florida was involved in three one-goal games.

The Panthers won during their last visit to the Motor City, but Florida failed to cover the puck line in the 3-2 victory on January 6 as the favorite (-156).

However, the Red Wings are 2-8-1 in their past 11 games, and they didn't cover the puck line as an underdog last time out against the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday, losing 5-1.

Detroit is just 4-6 on the puck line over its past 10 games as an underdog. The Red Wings have endured a tough recent stretch offensively, scoring two or fewer goals in eight of the past 11 games, and averaging just 2.0 goals per game during the skid.

As such, while the Panthers do come with some risk on the puck line, that’s the best bet and value. It might come down to a late empty-net goal to get you over the hump, so be patient.

Panthers vs Red Wings Over/Under analysis

Detroit is struggling to light the lamp lately. However, teams aren’t finding it difficult to pierce the Red Wings' defense and goaltending.

The team has coughed up 43 goals across the past 11 games, or 3.9 markers per contest. The Over is 3-0-1 in the past four games at home for the Red Wings, while going 5-2 across the last seven matchups following a loss of three-plus goals.

The Panthers have been on an offensive roll lately too, going 7-2 in the past nine games on the road, and 5-2 in their past seven against Atlantic Division teams.

Lean to the Over in this battle, and pair it with the Panthers on the puck line for a nice parlay opportunity.

Panthers vs Red Wings betting trend to know

The Panthers are a dominant 23-6 in the past 29 meetings with the Red Wings, and they've gone 18-4 in the past 22 trips to Detroit. The favorite is 21-6 in the last 27 meetings, too. Find more NHL betting trends for Panthers vs Red Wings.
