Maple Leafs vs Wild Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s NHL Game

While the results may not be there, the Toronto Maple Leafs are consistently getting shots on net with William Nylander leading the way. With a favorable matchup vs. the Wild, Mike DiStefano believes Nylander will keep up his shooting ways.

The Toronto Maple Leafs hit the ice for night two of a back-to-back as they head to the Xcel Energy Center to take on the Minnesota Wild in a cross-conference clash.

The NHL Odds slightly favor the Wild tonight at -115 on the moneyline, but the Buds have gotten the best of Minnesota, winning five straight meetings between the two teams, led by William Nylander, who will be the focus of my Maple Leafs vs. Wild predictions.

Find out why in my free NHL picks for this November 3 Leafs vs. Wild matchup.

My Leafs analysis
The Toronto Maple Leafs are looking to rebound tonight after a loss Saturday night to the St. Louis Blues. Meanwhile, the Minnesota Wild are red-hot with a 7-1-2 record on the year, winning six of their last seven games.

With Toronto playing on the second night of a back-to-back, it’s sometimes hard to pinpoint what Leafs team will show up tonight. Despite a new head coach, inconsistency still plagues this group. Thus, I’m looking at a more stable market in the betting world by making a shot prop as my bet of the night.

The Buds are fifth in the NHL in shots per game (32.3), peppering opposing goalies with 30+ shots on net in five straight games. One of the team’s leaders in that department is William Nylander, who is second on the team with 39 shots on the season, averaging 3.8 shots per game over his last 10 outings.

This is largely due to Craig Berube’s usage of the skilled winger. Last year, Nylander started 65% of his shifts in the offensive zone. That number has climbed up to 70% this year, and it’s allowed him and veteran linemates to focus primarily on the offensive side of the puck.

Nylanders’ shot prop is set at 3.5 and is paying plus-money, which feels like solid value considering he’s gone Over the number in back-to-back games and in five of his last eight.

Additionally, the Swedish winger has been a thorn in the side of the Wild of late, netting five goals and eight points over the last four meetings between the two clubs and averages 3.5 shots on net throughout his career against Minnesota.

After being held off the scoresheet last night, I expect him to be firing away to try to make up for it.

Maple Leafs vs Wild same-game parlay (SGP)

Nylander 4+ shots

Nylander anytime goal

For the first leg of my SGP, I’ll use my best bet and roll with Nylander to record 4+ shots on goal.

I’ll stick with the Nylander theme and take him to score a goal. He leads the team with eight goals this year and has been a menace against Minnesota with five goals in the last four matchups between the two clubs.

Finally, we’ll finish off the parlay by taking the alternate Over of 4.5 goals tonight. The Leafs are entering the second half of a back-to-back, and things could get sloppy. Additionally, both teams combine for an average of 6.3 goals per game and have seen 5+ goals scored in 18 of their combined last 20 games.
