The Pittsburgh Penguins are off to a strong 8-4-2 start and have enjoyed plenty of success on the back of a high-powered offense, led by Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Erik Karlsson.

My Capitals vs. Penguins predictions expect the latter to be front and center in an advantageous spot against a fatigued team starting its backup goaltender. Let’s take a closer look at my NHL picks for November 6.

Capitals vs Penguins prediction

Capitals vs Penguins Best bet: Erik Karlsson Over 0.5 points (-125)

Erik Karlsson is off to a terrific start for the Pittsburgh Penguins, who have been one of the league’s biggest surprises thus far.

He has 11 points through 14 games and is leading the team in shot attempts by a country mile. Be it creating with excellent in-zone passing or spraying shots towards the net, Karlsson is heavily involved offensively.

He has a strong chance of hitting the scoresheet once again vs. the Washington Capitals. They're in the latter half of a back-to-back situation and will be starting Charlie Lindgren in goal.

That’s a huge bonus for Karlsson, as Lindgren has not performed nearly as well as Logan Thompson, sporting a GAA two goals higher while sitting 58 points behind in SV% (.880 vs. 938).

Lindgren has allowed 14 goals over his last three starts. His only good performance this season came against a Rangers team that sits dead last in goals per game.

Expect the Penguins’ offense to cause Lindgren problems and for Karlsson to be involved in the fun.

Capitals vs Penguins same-game parlay

Dylan Strome has eight assists over his last eight games and has only recorded multiple shots in one of his last five. He's always focused on facilitating for others and should have plenty of opportunities to do so in a 6.5 total game.

The Penguins rank near the top of the league in pace and near the bottom in limiting shots, creating a good environment for Jakob Chychrun to fire away.
