The Vancouver Canucks got back in the win column with an impressive performance against the Dallas Stars last night, and they should feed off that momentum heading into tonight's contest against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Conor Garland has been an offensive catalyst in Vancouver’s top six, and I’m banking on him to continue firing the puck in my Canucks vs. Blackhawks predictions.

Canucks vs Blackhawks prediction

Canucks vs Blackhawks Best bet: Connor Garland Over 2.5 shots (+125)

Conor Garland was primarily a third liner for the Vancouver Canucks last season, but we’ve seen the diminutive winger move up the lineup in the early going this year.

Garland skated on the first line with Elias Pettersson and Drew O’Connor in Thursday’s 5-3 win over the Dallas Stars, collecting a goal and an assist over nearly 21 minutes of ice time.

Vancouver's winger is making the best of his increased role as he leads the club with 12 shots on net through the first four games. He’s recorded Over 2.5 shots on goal in three straight outings, and I expect that trend to hold against the Chicago Blackhawks, who aren’t known for being a great defensive team.

The Blackhawks rank tied for 21st in shots against per game (29.2) and 28th in total shot attempts against this season (233). Chicago is also one of the worst puck possession teams in the NHL, entering tonight 28th in percentage of shot attempts at 5v5 (44.9%).

Canucks vs Blackhawks same-game parlay

After registering just one shot and one assist through the first two games of the season, Quinn Hughes has woken up with nine shots over his last two outings, including a multi-point performance against the Stars last night. Expect the Canucks captain to find the score sheet against a weak Blackhawks team.

Connor Bedard has been more of a playmaker than a scorer for Chicago early on, mustering up just six shots on goal in five games. Bedard hasn't eclipsed 2.5 shots in any game this season, and you can bank on the Canucks playing him tight.
