Sam Reinhart has been a pleasant surprise for the Florida Panthers this season, and he'll look to put one in the net against Boston. With Reinhart catching fire to end November, our NHL picks are backing him to net one tonight.

The Florida Panthers will look to win their seventh straight home game when they welcome the Boston Bruins to Amerant Bank Arena tonight. Boston still occupies the top spot in the Atlantic Division but has cooled off with two overtime losses in its last four games, while Florida can move within two points of the leaders with a win tonight.

NHL odds have both sides priced around -110 with the total set at an even 6.0.

Sam Reinhart has quietly been piling up the goals this season with his 13 just one off the league lead — will he lead the hosts to another win on home ice and cash another one of his NHL player props? Find out in my Bruins vs. Panthers free NHL picks for Wednesday, November 22.

Bruins vs Panthers predictions

There have been quite a few fresh faces near the top of the NHL leaderboards this season, but one that probably hasn’t been getting enough attention is Sam Reinhart. The Florida Panthers center has 13 goals and 15 points in just 18 games — one goal off the league lead and eight points more than anyone else on his team.

Reinhart did cool down through the start of November with no goals through his first three games this month, but he’s bounced back with five tallies in his last seven contests.

Reinhart has done a ton of damage on the power play, where he’s tallied five of his 13 goals. The Panthers forward owns an NHL-leading 5.07 expected goals and 26 high-danger chances when skating on the man advantage this season, converting on over 26% of his shots. You’ll generally see Reinhart occupying the net front position on the Panthers' power play — a big reason why he’s generated so many chances in tight.

Reinhart will face a challenge tonight as the Bruins own the NHL’s top penalty kill at 90.8%, but Boston has been a bit shaky of late. The B’s allowed a power-play goal in their last game — a 5-4 overtime loss to the Lightning — tied for the most goals Boston has allowed in a game this season.

Reinhart has also enjoyed playing Boston in the past as he’s scored in each of his last four games vs. the Bruins. I’ll bank on that trend to continue with tonight’s best bet.

Bruins vs Panthers same-game parlay

Sam Reinhart anytime goalscorer

Bruins to score first

Over 5.5

Boston has opened the scoring in 11 of its 17 games this season, going 9-1-1 in those contests. Florida has scored first eight times, so I’ll give the B’s the nod here.

The Panthers have seen at least seven goals scored in seven of their last nine games, but a stingy Bruins defense that allows just 2.18 goals per game could slow down the scoring. Still, Boston’s contests have been pretty high scoring of late, totaling at least seven goals in four of their last five outings... so 5.5 shouldn’t be hard to beat.

Bruins vs Panthers moneyline and Over/Under analysis

The Bruins opened as the slight favorite at -120 on the moneyline with the Panthers getting +106 at home. By Wednesday morning, though, this game was a pick ‘em at most books with the hosts being shifted to around -105.

I am a little surprised by how much love the Panthers are getting considering that they’re going up against the NHL’s top team, but if you can still snag Florida as an underdog, I think that’s the play.

Like Reinhart, the Cats haven’t been talked about as much as they should be, but they’ve been one of the hottest teams in the league over the last few weeks. Florida is 7-1 over its last eight games with the only blemish being a 2-1 loss at Los Angeles.

Tonight’s total opened at 6.0 goals and I’ll lean on the Panthers to help this game reach the Over. Boston’s defense will try its best to keep this game low scoring, but the Over has cashed in four of the last five meetings between these two clubs.

The Bruins should be good for at least a couple of goals as they haven’t scored fewer than two in any game this season while cashing the Over in three straight outings. The Panthers, meanwhile, have hit the Over in seven of their last nine games while scoring four-plus in six of those contests.
