Connor McDavid’s game has gone up a couple of levels since Zach Hyman returned to the lineup and joined him on the top line.
That’s not a coincidence. McDavid has produced drastically more shot volume with Hyman by his side, generating 1.3 more shots on target and nearly two more attempts each night.
He should have plenty of opportunities again vs. the St. Louis Blues. They have really struggled defensively of late, sitting 22nd in expected goals against, 29th in shots allowed, and dead last in shot share over the past 10 games.
This is a spot where McDavid & Co. will be able to spend a lot of time on the front foot and with possession of the puck.
It’s also worth noting the Blues have given up power-play goals at the sixth-highest rate this season.
