Blue Jackets vs Maple Leafs Prediction, Picks & Same-Game Parlay for Tonight’s NHL Game

The Blue Jackets give up plenty of SOG opportunities, and that’s music to John Tavares’ ears as he looks to deliver for the Maple Leafs.

We’ve got 12 games on the NHL betting slate tonight, including a matchup between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Jackets allow a lot of shots on goal, thus making the Leafs shot market the subject of my best bet tonight.

Blue Jackets vs Maple Leafs prediction

Blue Jackets vs Maple Leafs Best bet: John Tavares Over 2.5 shots (-175)

John Tavares has been “Mr. Consistent” for the Toronto Maple Leafs this season.

He leads the team with 11 goals and has 25 points through the first 20 games of the year. He’s also second on the team in shots on goal, averaging 3.0 shots per game.

His posted total for tonight is set at 2.5 shots. It’s a number he’s cleared three games in a row and in 10 of his last 12 games.

He’s also playing more minutes now with the injury to Auston Matthews and is relied upon to be even more of an offensive generator in his absence.

His TOI has increased from 17:25 per night to 22:37 over the last four games since Matthews left the lineup. He’s also averaging 3.25 shots per game in that stretch.

Additionally, the Columbus Blue Jackets allow high shot volumes quite regularly. They allow 31.5 shots per game, ranking 31st in the NHL.

So it only makes sense to attack the Leafs shot prop market tonight, and Tavares has been the most consistent shooter in the Leafs lineup.

Blue Jackets vs Maple Leafs same-game parlay

I’ll add Over 0.5 points for Oliver Ekman-Larsson. He’s registered at least one point in four straight games and in seven of his last eight contests. He’s also averaging 23:18 over his last four games and is now on PP1.

For my final leg, I’ll take Nick Robertson to score an anytime goal. He seems to elevate his game against the Blue Jackets with goals in back-to-back meetings, with three total tallies in those games against them.

Blue Jackets vs Maple Leafs SGP

  • John Tavares Over 2.5 shots
