The NFL trade deadline is looming and one name that was floating around was Eagles RB Saquon Barkley. While there are odds on Barkley's "next team", Philadelphia isn't selling off its star anytime soon.

The NFL trade deadline is closing in, and several superstars are rumored to be up for grabs.

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley was among them until reports shot down any trade talk, even with the Eagles falling to the bottom of the NFC East.

According to the NFL Network, a source close to the team denied Philadelphia’s interest in trading Barkley this season. The running back himself told the media that he wants to stay in the City of Brotherly Love:

“The whole time my mindset was, we have a little issue going on right now, and I feel like I’m the type of player and the type of leader that can help us get out of it, and I want to be one of the reasons why we fix it.”

That hasn’t stopped prediction markets from offering trading on Saquon Barkley’s next team odds — even if there are only two options at the moment.

Why are the Eagles trading Saquon Barkley?

They’re not. At least according to sources within the team.

The Philadelphia Eagles are in a freefall, with injuries stripping this offense of many key contributors. That includes QB Jalen Hurts, who is out for the year due to blood clots.

Saquon Barkley has battled ailments early on this year, recently returning from a hamstring injury. Barkley still has two years and $35 million remaining on his current contract.

If we see any movement from Philadelphia at the deadline, it will likely be to add some extra bodies, with GM Howie Roseman not pulling the plug on the season.

While the Eagles are 2-6, the NFC East is a mess with the 4-2-1 New York Giants leading the division.

Saquon Barkley next team odds analysis

Eagles Eagles | 'Yes' 99¢

There’s not much of a market for taking Barkley to play anywhere but Philadelphia beyond the Dec. 1 cutoff. News from the team and the player have snuffed out any trade talks.

Back on Oct. 23, the team’s plans weren’t as clear-cut. Rumblings around Saquon’s future had the Eagles as his “next team” around 50%.

That slipped to 15% and 17% in the two days before Halloween, with rumors that the Minnesota Vikings and Cincinnati Bengals were sniffing around.

Those contenders will now turn their attention to Indianapolis Colts RB Jonathan Taylor, after the Eagles cooled any hot takes on Barkey’s “next team”.

Vikings Vikings | 'Yes' 40¢

If you’re not buying into what the Eagles are saying — or you’re a day-dreaming Vikings fan holding out for hope — you can find Minnesota as Barkey’s “next team” trading at 40%.

The Vikings could definitely use a weapon like Saquon to jump-start their stale scoring attack. Minnesota’s offense is one of the worst in the NFL, generating the fifth-lowest points per play.

But at this point, the Vikings have about as much of a chance of landing Barkley as they do of leading the league in scoring.

Take a breath, Eagles fans. Your No. 26 jersey is safe for the rest of the season. Saquon ain’t going anywhere, even if the Eagles keep sliding down the standings.
