Dear Football Gods, please let Lamar Jackson play in Week 8. The last time Jackson and Josh Allen clashed, we had an instant classic. Jason Logan gives his early leans for Ravens vs. Bills.

NFL Week 8 is headlined by a battle of MVP quarterbacks — hopefully — when the Buffalo Bills host the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday afternoon.

Lamar Jackson’s status is still up in the air, but Baltimore’s QB appears to be on track on return after a three-game absence. My early Ravens vs. Bills predictions check the pulse of the NFL markets, which are usually ahead of any injury updates.

Here are my early leans and NFL picks for November 1, which like Buffalo in spite of Jackson's potential return.

Early Ravens vs Bills spread pick: Bills moneyline

The current spread is padded a half-point on the field goal with Lamar Jackson still questionable for Week 8.

Jackson practiced in limited fashion toward the end of last week but was still limping through an ankle injury that has sidelined him the past three games.

Backup QBs are a lot like fish and house guests — the longer they’re around, the more they start to stink.

Baltimore Ravens QB2 Tyler Huntley is beginning to show why he’s not a starter. He went M.I.A. in the second half of Sunday’s loss to Cincinnati and is outgunned again when put up against Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen.

The Bills are coming off a bye week and playing at home for the first time in almost a month. Buffalo’s break allows the offense to get some key bodies back on the field, including WR1 D.J. Moore.

The odds will shift dramatically later in the week, when we get more info on Lamar. But for right now, I’m leaning to the home team to win outright in Week 8.

Early Ravens vs Bills total pick: Under 53.5

If the total is tipping Baltimore’s hand, then it looks like Jackson is playing in Week 8.

This Over/Under has climbed to 53.5 points, which currently sits among the highest totals of the 2026 season. Tall totals have proven worthy so far this year, with closing O/U’s of 50 points or more going Over at a 10-6 count.

These AFC powers clashed in Week 1 of last year and lit up the scoreboard for a grand total of 81 points, crushing the closing number of 51.5 O/U.

All that said, I’m leaning toward the Under.

Jackson won’t be as nimble against a Bills pass rush getting consistent pressure (and Ed Oliver back in Week 8), and that takes away a big part of this Ravens rushing attack.

Neither defense has been great at defending the ground, and a steady dose of Derrick Henry and James Cook will keep gains shorter and the clock ticking. These offenses rank 20th and 22nd in terms of tempo, eating up a lot of play clock before getting snaps off.

We can still have plenty of points and finish short of the oddsmakers expectations.
