Rams vs Jaguars Best bet: Kyren Williams Over 66.5 rushing yards (-114)
The Los Angeles Rams offense is going to lean on starting running back Kyren Williams this week, with No. 1 wide receiver Puka Nacua (ankle) expected to miss this Week 7 tilt against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
While Williams has dipped to just 115 rushing yards on 27 attempts for 4.3 per tote the past two weeks, I’m anticipating a busier day out of the backfield Sunday.
The Jaguars have been a stout run defense statistically through six weeks, but a quick peek at the opposition doesn’t showcase a who’s who of opposing runners. Jacksonville sports middling ranks in PFF run defense grade (12th), run defense DVOA (13th) and schedule-adjusted run defense (16th), while also ranking 14th in both yards and EPA allowed per rush.
I also value the Los Angeles offensive line ranking first in PFF run block grade and 12th in run block win rate, while Jacksonville will counter with a 27th-ranked run stop win rate.
Of course, this is also a low total for Williams, as he’s only been below the 66.5-yard mark in four games dating back to the beginning of last season.
Finally, Rams No. 2 running back Blake Corum is also nursing an ankle injury and missed practice time leading into Sunday’s game.
Rams vs Jaguars same-game parlay
With Nuca out, I’m expecting Los Angeles to have consistency issues on offense. The go-to star was pacing the NFL in targets and PFF receiving grade through five weeks, after all.
The injury makes the Rams much easier to game plan for and match up against.
I also value the familiarity Jacksonville has with playing internationally. The Rams haven’t played in Europe since 2019, while the Jags have played annually across the pond since 2013 — except for 2020, of course.
Returning to Williams, he’s found the end zone in 16 of 22 games dating back to the beginning of last season, and the go-to back has also combined for 22 red-zone rushes and targets through six weeks this year.
