The Raiders are 4-3 after picking up a win last week against the Browns, while the Chargers have lost five of their last six games after opening the season with a victory.

Oddsmakers are expecting a tight battle between the AFC West foes, installing the Chargers as slim 1.5-point favorites.

Against the spread (ATS) pick

The future is bright in L.A. with quarterback Justin Herbert looking impressive as a rookie. The 22-year-old has completed 67.4 percent of his passes for 1,820 yards and 15 touchdowns through six games.

While Herbert made a few costly mistakes last week in Denver, he should find things easier against a Raiders defense that ranks 29th in the league in sacks and surrenders 7.4 yards per pass attempt.

The Chargers have actually played well against some of the top teams in the league, having fourth-quarter leads against the Chiefs, Saints and Buccaneers. Unfortunately, they squandered all of those leads and also blew a 14-point fourth-quarter advantage last week against the Broncos.

Although closing games has been a major problem for the Bolts, the Raiders aren't reliable late either, surrendering 11 points per game during the fourth quarter which ranks second-worst in the league. Look for L.A. to get up early thanks to Herbert and the passing game - and this time hold on for a win and a cover.

PREDICTION: Chargers -1.5 (-110)

Over/Under pick

Vegas ranks 25th in the NFL in points allowed per game with 29, and is also among the worst teams in the league in yards allowed per play.

While the Chargers are slightly better in those metrics, they've also looked awful on the defensive side of the ball recently, surrendering 32 ppg over their last four contests. They might also be missing their best defensive player in Joey Bosa due to a concussion, while their secondary - which was already thin due to long-term injuries to Chris Harris Jr. and Derwin James - just lost a key depth player in Desmond King who was traded for a bag of peanuts on Monday.

Although Vegas played a very low-scoring game in Cleveland last week, that was in wet and windy conditions with both teams playing conservatively. Expect the Raiders to get back to their usual loose play on Sunday which has resulted in a 5-1-1 O/U record over their last seven games.

The Chargers have cashed the Over in each of their past four games, with a 57-point game against the Saints the lowest total during that span. Expect the Over to hit again.

PREDICTION: Over 54 (-110)

First Half Bet

We already highlighted the Chargers' propensity to blow leads, but that at least indicates that they get off to good starts. The Bolts have a first-half scoring margin of plus-4.1 ppg while the Raiders have a first-half scoring margin of minus-1.8 ppg.

With the Chargers leading at halftime in five of seven contests this season, back them on the 1H spread.

PREDICTION: First half Chargers -1.5 (-110)
