The New York Jets will still be seeking their first win of the year when they host the surprising Carolina Panthers at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.

Carolina should have more than enough to handle New York even on the road, so I’m taking the visitors to cover in my Panthers vs. Jets predictions.

Let’s take a closer look at what bettors should expect from this matchup in my free NFL picks for Sunday, October 19.

Panthers vs Jets prediction

Panthers vs Jets Best bet: Panthers -1.5 (-105)

At 3-3, the Carolina Panthers are enjoying their best start in years and are threatening to have their first winning season since 2017, potentially.

And while it could be argued that Carolina hasn’t really played anyone else, that’s not a huge factor in Sunday’s game, as the New York Jets might be their weakest opponents yet.

New York managed to keep things close in a 13-11 loss to the Denver Broncos in London last week, but it’s hard to know how much stock to put into a single result that took place in an unfamiliar country.

We’ve seen a bevy of poor offensive performances over the years in London, and this might have been more of the same.

Outside of that game, the Jets haven’t played much defense against anyone. New York has allowed 31.4 ppg on American soil, giving up big plays in the passing game and getting gashed for 130 yards per contest on the ground.

The Jets have lost three games by just two points this year, but close doesn’t count – and even that margin wouldn’t cover the spread this week. I’m expecting Carolina to leave New York with a win by at least a field goal on Sunday.

Panthers vs Jets same-game parlay

Both defenses have been shaky, which has me favoring the Over at this relatively low total. I’ll also take Carolina running back Rico Dowdle to find the endzone against a Jets defense allowing 28.3 ppg on the year.

Panthers vs Jets SGP

  • Panthers -1.5

  • Rico Dowdle anytime touchdown

Our big-ticket SGP: Hall Monitor!

After a poor day in the passing game last week and with an injury to Garrett Wilson, I expect Justin Fields to look more to his checkdown options against the Panthers. That includes Breece Hall, who had 4+ receptions in three straight games before getting shut out against Denver.

That increased usage could also allow Hall to finally reach the endzone, as he hasn’t scored in 2025 after scoring eight touchdowns last season.

Panthers vs Jets SGP

  • Panthers -1.5
  • Over 42.5
  • Rico Dowdle anytime touchdown
  • Breece Hall Over 3.5 receptions
  • Breece Hall anytime touchdown

Panthers vs Jets odds

  • Spread: Panthers +1.5 (-120) | Jets -1.5 (+100)
  • Moneyline: Panthers -110 | Jets -110

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
