The Dallas Cowboys aren’t the only ones planning to rain on the Philadelphia Eagles’ parade.

Mother Nature may make an appearance on Thursday Night Football, with the potential for rain and wind in the forecast at Lincoln Financial Field.

Here’s a rundown of the Cowboys vs. Eagles weather and how it could impact the NFL odds on September 4.

Cowboys vs Eagles weather forecast

Rain could start before this 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff, making for a soggy Super Bowl ceremony. A threat of thundershowers also looms around the opening whistle, according to some weather models.

Forecasts indicate a 69% chance of precipitation around 8 p.m. ET, with light to moderate showers intensifying between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. ET, accompanied by an 80% chance of rain.

Those showers are expected to lighten in the second half but are expected to continue throughout the game.

How Cowboys vs Eagles weather impacts the odds

Lincoln Financial Field has a solid drainage system, so field conditions shouldn’t deteriorate too harshly, though footing could be slick at the line of scrimmage.

However, slippery footballs can lead to fumbles and dropped passes, something that should concern Dallas fans. The Cowboys topped the NFL with 14 fumbles in 2024.

Winds are forecasted between 10 and 12 mph with gusts up to 31 mph, blowing south from sideline to sideline at The Linc. Those breezes are expected to lighten in the final 60 minutes, dropping to 8 mph with gusts of 22 mph.

Those stronger crosswinds can plague any deeper passes as well as make kicking a hassle. Again, this weather works against the Cowboys and the big leg of kicker Brandon Aubrey.

He’s a field goal threat from 60+ yards, but any longer FGAs could get pushed around by those gusts.

Temperatures for Thursday Night Football sit in the mid-70s, but with the humidity up to 79%, it'll feel more like 86 degrees on the field. That will dip to a “feels like” temperature of 82 degrees in the fourth quarter.

Week 1 matchups always test the conditioning of teams, as all the practice and preseason reps can’t truly prepare for “game shape”. Facing a very physical opponent on both offensive and defensive lines, like Philadelphia, is extra taxing this early into the schedule.

Cowboys vs Eagles props to watch

The longest field goal made prop for Thursday night is at 49.5 yards Over/Under — a standard FGM total. But with a big boot like Aubrey able to kick the snot out of it from 60 yards, you really want to take the Over.

Those winds worry me when it comes to long FGAs. Aubrey is automatic from close range, but with winds pushing sideline to sideline in Philly, longer attempts could get bullied by the breeze.

Dallas certainly isn’t going to win this one kicking field goals, and if the winds are that strong, this offense could go for it when it would usually kick for three points.
