Broncos vs Eagles predictions

Here are our early thoughts on the spread and total for this week’s game. We will have a full game preview (with a best bet and SGP) later in the week.

Early Broncos vs Eagles spread pick: Broncos +4.5

-110 at FanDuel

The Philadelphia Eagles are one of just two unbeaten teams in the NFL; however, this year's team doesn’t feel like it’s hitting quite the same highs as last season.

The Eagles rank seventh in average points scored per game but 31st in passing yards. That wouldn’t be such an issue if they were crushing it with the run like last year, but they’re 16th in rushing yards per game.

They also don’t rank inside the Top 10 in either offensive or defensive DVOA, ranking just ahead of the Denver Broncos in offensive DVOA and just behind them defensively.

The Broncos might be 2-2, but they’re unfortunate to have that record — barely losing to the Chargers and the Colts — which would give a totally different impression of how their season is going.

The win over the Bengals was hugely impressive from a defensive standpoint. Yes, the Bengals were without Joe Burrow, but the Broncos managed to hold them to 159 yards. Expect Denver to do enough to cover in Philly.

Early Broncos vs Eagles total pick: Under 44

-112 at FanDuel

The Eagles haven’t been putting up good passing numbers, with just an average of 138 yards through the air per game. There’s an argument it’s because of their ability to run, but the Broncos have the ability to force Hurts into using his arm.

They’re giving up under 100 yards on the ground per game, having held the Bengals to 53 yards on Monday night, and Jim Harbaugh's run-heavy Chargers to 106 the week before.

Denver's defense can keep the score low and keep it in this game; the rest is down to Bo Nix. However, the sophomore quarterback has been inconsistent from week to week. Philadelphia will be confident it can shut him down and force him into errors.

When it comes to taking the Over or Under on total points, it’s not a clear-cut decision at this stage. However, with the Broncos being good against the run but possessing an inconsistent quarterback, there’s probably a higher chance of the score being kept low than the game turning into a shootout.
