Two of the three legs of this same-game parlay cashed when the Mississippi Rebels walloped the Tulane Green Wave, 45-10, back in mid-September. The third leg of Trinidad Chambliss' scoring may not have happened, but it should be notedthat  he took 14 carries for 112 yards in that blowout.

My Tulane vs. Mississippi predictions clearly expect more of the same, a rout in the first round of the College Football Playoff.

Our best Tulane vs Mississippi SGP for CFP First Round

Tulane has no good offensive recourse in this matchup. The Green Wave go as their passing game goes, but the Mississippi Rebels have one of the best passing defenses in the country.

Tulane struggles immensely on the ground, but it may be best served to try to run the ball and shorten this game, to keep the ball away from Trinidad Chambliss and an angry offense.

Mississippi has heard plenty about Lane Kiffin. It is time to diminish those headlines with a statement.

Chambliss tends to run more in games that mean more, rushing for five of his six touchdowns in one-score games.

This should not be a one-score game, but it is unquestionably one that means more.

Tulane vs Mississippi SGP

  • Mississippi -17.5
  • Tulane team total Under 20.5
  • Trinidad Chambliss anytime touchdown

Douglas Farmer spends his days thinking about college football and his nights thinking about the NBA. His betting habits and coverage follow that same pattern. He covered Notre Dame football for various outlets from 2008 to 2024, most notably spending eight seasons as NBC Sports’ beat writer on the Irish. That was also when his gambling focus took off. Knowing there were veteran beat writers with three decades more experience than he had, Douglas found his niche by best recognizing Notre Dame’s standing in each year’s national landscape, a complex tapestry most easily understood and remembered via betting odds.

In 2021, that interest created a freelance opportunity with Covers, a role that eventually led to Douglas joining the company full-time in 2023. In the fall, Douglas will place five or six dozen bets each week, a disproportionate amount via BetRivers because the operator tends to have lines slightly different than the rest of the market. The same can be said of Circa Sports’ futures markets.

While Douglas is an avid NBA fan and covers the league throughout the year, the vast majority of his bets are on college football, because that is the biggest key to sports betting: Know what you do not know.
