Best Missouri vs Kansas combo

Logically speaking, the underdog is correlated with the Under. Think about it: If there are fewer points scored, that’s better for the team getting points. Right?

This 50.5 total is a lot of optimism in offenses with new quarterbacks who aren’t exactly offensive juggernauts historically.

Best Tennessee vs Georgia combo

The Vols offensive efficiency makes them the more likely team to clear this first half line of 17.5 points with ease, while Georgia Tech’s defensive issues create a path to a higher-scoring game.

We should see plenty of offense with a more talented team showing exactly that in winning time.

Best Ohio State vs Texas combo

This is one of the best games of the season, pitting No. 1 against No. 4, and as I said in my college football Top 25 predictions, the winner will be the CFP National Championship favorite on Sunday morning.

But there's a reason Manning leads the 2027 NFL Draft odds, and it's not because of his last name. He's the most talented QB in the country, and even last year, against a Buckeyes defense that was one of the best in recent memory, Manning had flashes of brilliance

With Ohio State losing so much defensive talent and Manning gaining so much offensive help, this time he can lead the Longhorns to a win in a game I expect to be much higher scoring. I have Texas taking it 27-24.

Best Oklahoma vs Michigan combo

My three picks are obviously correlated. I'm counting on both playing smash-mouth football, which makes it tougher for Oklahoma to win by a margin and the Over to cash. Also, the Sooners could start slow because they are trying to get their bearings while playing in front of a hostile crowd.

Best Alabama vs Kentucky combo

I know you can't "coach your bets," but I'm hoping the Wildcats slow down the tempo and use their offense to play keep-away from the Crimson Tide. By reducing the possessions, Kentucky gives itself a better chance of pulling off an upset, and more importantly, a better opportunity for this combo to hit.

Best Oregon vs Oklahoma State combo

Points, points and more points. Oregon will pour it on early and often, and Oklahoma State's offense will have a bounce-back effort, relatively speaking, after last week's clunker. Plus, it's the Cowboys' home opener, so they'll be playing hard even if the Ducks have this game all but won in the second half.

Best Rice vs Notre Dame combo

My three picks above are all correlated, which makes for a good combo. The game story is simple: Rice runs the ball with a little success early to hold the Irish to a slow start.

Notre Dame ultimately takes control, but it happy to play a game where the clock keeps running on short rest. That leads to limited scoring and a comfortable Under.

I like combining these picks as long as we can get a 3.5x payout or better.

Best Texas Tech vs Oregon State combo

This will be one of the highest-tempo matchups of Week 2. Both offenses operate with a hurry, and that should lead to points even if efficiency isn't at an all-time high.

The Beavers hold an advantage with an entirely new coaching staff and offensive playbook. That's difficult to prepare for, especially when accompanied by a competent starting quarterback.

Best Arkansas vs Utah combo

Based on the massive gulf in offensive talent in this game, I don't think Utah will be held to within two touchdowns at home. The Utes' offense should make its presence known early and often, just as they did against Idaho.

That expectation has me backing the Utes to cover a first-half spread of 6.5 points, on their way to easily covering the full game spread as well.

Best Iowa State vs Iowa combo

The Cy-Hawk series has historically been low-scoring, and this year's game should follow that trend, with Iowa State's offense being at a major disadvantage against Iowa's defense.

Many of the Cyclones' offensive starters have never faced a defense this strong.

Defensive coordinator Phil Parker had the Hawkeyes ranked Top 20 last season in defensive predicted points added (0.055) and Top five in the Big Ten in havoc rate (17.6%).

Iowa's defense and run game will be the difference at home, and I have the Hawkeyes winning 27-10 behind a strong second half from their offense.

Best Arizona State vs Texas A&M combo

Arizona State has the firepower to at least challenge an A-list SEC school.

After starting the year 11-0 in 2025, the Aggies were stopped by the Texas Longhorns to put an end to their winning streak, before getting held to their lowest point total of the year in a 10-3 loss to Miami in Round 1 of the College Football Playoff.

The Sun Devils will be the first legit level-up opponent since then.

Both teams showed what they could do against lesser opposition, but this should be a more physical matchup that falls Under the total.
