In pursuit of the Big 12 title, the 13th-ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders look to keep pace with BYU and Cincinnati as they head to Manhattan to take on the Kansas State Wildcats.

My Texas Tech vs. Kansas State predictions suggest the Wildcats are well-equipped to hold their own, especially considering their recent success against the Red Raiders.

Texas Tech vs Kansas State prediction

Texas Tech vs Kansas State best bet: Kansas State +7.5 (-120)

This has the makings of a trap game, with plenty of elements in the mix to stir up an upset (at least on the line).

The Texas Tech Red Raiders are coming off a 42-0 trouncing of Oklahoma State, a week after their undefeated season ended at the hands of Arizona State.

Texas Tech is also the Big 12’s highest scoring team — averaging 43.6 points per game — while also a league-low 12.4 points per contest.

It’s hard not to look ahead, as the 10th-ranked BYU Cougars, one of two teams ahead of them in the standings, is on tap next week.

Finally, Kansas State is playing exceptionally well. A one-point loss at Baylor is the only blemish in the last four weeks, a team that’s averaging a hefty 37.8 points per game over that stretch.

The Wildcats hammered Kansas 42-17 last time out after drilling TCU 41-28 in their prior outing — their two highest scoring outputs on the year.

K-State has also dominated this head-to-head, having won eight straight against the Red Raiders. Of its five straight wins at home, four have been by at least nine points.

Texas Tech will have its hands full, and I expect the Wildcats to cover.

Texas Tech vs Kansas State same-game parlay

Kansas State QB Avery Johnson has thrown for at least two scores in each of his last four games, so taking him at plus odds for two TD passes feels like the right play.

The Red Raiders’ pass defense is good, but can be punctured: they’ve allowed eight passing TDs against this season.

We’ll wrap with Kansas State’s Joe Jackson and his 71.5 rushing yards prop for Saturday. It’s a line he’s crossed just once this season, but he is averaging 80 yards per game over his last three.

The Red Raiders are the Big 12’s top run defense, allowing a paltry 68.1 yards per game, and a league low three passing touchdowns against.

Texas Tech vs Kansas State SGP

  • Kansas State +7.5
  • Avery Johnson Over 1.5 passing touchdowns
  • Joe Jackson Under 71.5 rushing yards

Our deep-ball SGP: Touchdown city

Cameron Dickey has led the Red Raiders in rushing, with 675 yards on the year and nine touchdowns. He’s scored three majors in his last three games, including a score in last week’s demolition of Oklahoma State.

Finally, we’ll take Behren Morton to throw Under 1.5 TD passes. He has two TD passes total in his last three starts, and as he’s coming back from injury, he may need to shake off some rust.

Texas Tech vs Kansas State SGP

  • Kansas State +7.5
  • Avery Johnson Over 1.5 passing touchdowns
  • Joe Jackson Under 71.5 rushing yards
  • Cameron Dickey anytime touchdown
  • Behren Morton Under 1.5 passing touchdowns

Texas Tech vs Kansas State game predictions

Texas Tech vs Kansas State moneyline prediction

If Kansas State can find points early, there is potential for an upset brewing, and value to take them at +220.

Texas Tech is a well-coached football team that can manufacture runs. The Red Radiers scored between 34 and 67 points in all seven of their wins this season and have let exactly one team reach the 20-point plateau.

Kansas State should be able to hang, but the Red Raiders have barely flinched all year, and they should escape with a W.

Texas Tech vs Kansas State spread prediction

As explained in my best bet, take K-State to cover.

Texas Tech vs Kansas State Over/Under prediction

We’ve already talked about the surging offensive output from the Wildcats over the last four games. Not surprisingly, the Over has cashed in each of those games.

The Red Raiders have seen the Over cash just once in its last six, but only because the opposition couldn’t hold up its end of the bargain.

Each current offense is humming right now, so let’s keep betting with pace.

Texas Tech vs Kansas State odds

  • Spread: Texas Tech -7.5 (-102) | Kansas State +7.5 (-120)
  • Moneyline: Texas Tech -270 | Kansas State +220
  • Over/Under: Over 52.5 | Under 52.5
